Game Thread: Pats Vs. Washington Whatevers

Curran says that Rivera said that he will play his starters for one or two series only. If BB starts Cam, then Mac will be playing against back ups and scrubs. It'll be interesting if the Pats' defense holds them to two three and outs. Rivera would not say if Fitzpatrick will be playing tonight.

The Patriots will be practicing against the Eagles and supposedly, they will have the starters in against the Pats for no less than the first half next Thursday night.

Rivera had a phone conference and told the media that he was not going to have the starters out for more than one or two series. Not quarters, series. He can change his mind if they go three and out two or three times in a row, maybe one if the Pats offense takes six minutes and 15 plays with their first drive.

You have to assume that he's pretty much made up his mind on the starters and he needs to figure out who'll be backing up whom.

The Patriots look horrible on offense. Cam threw away his first pass because J. Smith would have been hit. 3rd and 8 and Cam held ball too long and got smacked. 7 Defenders on the line and the WFT brings up #8 and Cam drops back and does pay attention to the blitz.

Defense looks good except for the mid range pass which they give up with loose coverage twice. Fitzpatrick looks like he's in mid-season form.

Nordin looks like he'll be the kicker. 35 and then 50 that would have been good from 65.

Mac looked comfortable. Terrible missed call by the officials. Meyers mad the catch and BB didn't bother to challenge.

They also missed a WFT OT jumping back early to block.

Don't like BB's "give a shit" attitude about the bad calls. Jones had a first down and Bill should have tossed the red rag. Same official missed the WFT first down too. Both times he's been out of position and had to catch up to the spot.

BB never challenges in pre-season, he lets the game play out.

Upon further review of questionable DPI on perfect 40 yard EZ pass by Jones, great defensive play. Not a penalty, IMO.

Jones looks very comfortable in the pocket and has quick release. They are playing vanilla, high-percentage passes, but the Rookie looks solid.

Thought Jones looked solid. Delivers a better ball than Cam. Judon abused Leno early and often. WFT didn't tackle very well. The rest was meh. It's early!
