Game Thread - 11 Oct (Carolina)

Wow! Nobody started a game thread for the first game on the 4-game road trip? Everybody forget about the time difference. Anyways a good solid first period for our Kings. Just not able to get a puck past Ward. Kind of scary in that they pretty much controlled play but the game is still tied. One little mistake and you're behind and playing catch up.

Kings look like they are playing well for5 minutes and then there is a 30 panic attack

Yeah the forwards move the puck into the zone and try to get something set up only to have somebody at the point fumble the puck over the blue line. Can't win if you can't score. So far this game has all the earmarks of a 1-0 final score. That's OK if the Kings are the ones with the 1.

Carolina is super aggressive pressuring our D at the point. It's working for them right now, but they played last night, so I don't expect it to last.

RR has a hole in his stick. Every pass to him at the offensive blue line ends up at the redline.
Kings winning the faceoffs only to leave the zone because no one keeps the puck in

Well it's looking more like a 2-1 final score now that the Kings couldn't clear the puck and the Canes got a nice deflection to score on their power play. Dagnabit!

Big glove save by Quick on Gerbe to seal the shootout win. Happy for the 2 points but it's still a dumb way to decide a hockey game.

That puck was bouncing all over the place all game long for both teams. Carolina missed numerous scoring chances because they couldn't control or get a stick on a bouncing puck. The ice in Raleigh must be as bad as Staples Center ice.

X, the Kings seriously need to improve their ES play. The stats may say otherwise but they aren't finishing at all.

That goal by King sucks, that will be worth another 80+ games for me to endure. OK he did play well in this game but once again LA tried to win on 1g. RR hasn't done much for me, Martinez has been much much better then Muffin. Wouldn't mind seeing Ellerby out there for RR just for the hell of it....

No saying I disagree about the ES play. It's just that I don't feel it's as much of an issue it appears. I looking for them to light up the Panthers Sunday.

King's play probably launched him onto the 2nd line, but I didn't mind Carcillo there.

That's my big fear too, that it catapulted him to T6 status. He has his moments there like Simmonds did when he was in LA, but he is a B6 player and should do what he does best there.

I also think Carcillo added something to that line that hasn't been there since God knows when. I would have just rather have kept Penner since he was most effective there (isn't saying much but better than Carcillo and King IMO).

Keep Martinez in, he is doing a fine job. Muffin should watch and learn.
