Sharks win, Colorado and Ponicks get 1 point, LA gets none. Overall a plus night for the Sharks.

2 Points! Too bad that extra point goes to the one team the Sharks least want to give one to.

Clowe and Thornton sporting some nasty cuts. Close calls there and they still won't wear visors.

Just watched this one off the DVR.... I don't know, I kind of liked the pace and action in this one. A couple of "oh shit!" moments there on the defense but oh well.

Sucks that they couldn't get the 2 points via ROW but next best thing is just getting the damn 2 points so can't complain about that. Good thing Handzus and Clowe are pretty clutch in teh SO...

Anyway, good night.

@SharksStats: Both Handzus and Clowe are 5 for 10 in the shootout this season. Between them, they have 7 of the Sharks 8 shootout-winners.

Yup!

Missed the game entirely tonight... Sounds like an exciting one and another carbon copy of the last several:

Sharks top 6 comes through with 2 goals (well, burns with the top line on). Winnik (i.e. the 4th line) scores a super key goal, without which the sharks lose in regulation. And Moore tacks on another -2 (as does mitchell), giving up at least one to the opposition 3rd line.

Amazing how similar games can be, at least on the scoresheet.

I should add my congratulations to moore on not only achieving the title of most minus forward on the sharks in just 16 games played, but tying demers for best on the team overall in that category. And -2 in just over 10 mins of ice, too! I challenge him to go -3 in under 10 minutes... Can he do it folks???

-6 in a total of about 48 minutes over the last 4 games... 4 total shots over those 4 games as well... Will he keep up the more minuses than shots streak??? even more suspense, ladies and gentlemen!

On a more positive note, Great to get marleau on the board to help end his drought and awesome to the get D involved too. Sharks, in essense, got two points with only one goal actually scored by the top 6. they are going to absolutely need that secondary scoring that they got both tonight and last game to win.If they can get 1-2 goals every game from the their D and bottom 6, they will win a whole ton of games.

Gotta get this in before the flaming starts, but SJ Rules, I have to applaud you. Why? because unlike 97.9% of this board, you stick to your opinion, and your opinion on certain things is pretty much spot on... And for that you get bashed by the lemming-esque other posters...

While everyone gives you shit bout the Mcginn thing, im still wondering where all the "Niemi is God" posters went?? And why they all call for his head now... This board cracks me up, its my comic relief when I come home from work... Soooooo, keep up the good posts Rules

PS - "Most talented Sharks team EEEEVVVVVVVEEEEEEERRRR!!!!!"

Not the biggest fan of +/- but in this case it's very indicative of SJ's most problematic guys on D and those who are not generating goals. Let's just name them: Moore, Demers, Mitchell, Handzus and Clowe. The first four guys can take a hike next year - good riddance. Clowe I'd keep if his emotional play continues to rub off on the rest of the team.

actually if you followed sj for any length of time you'd see that he doesnt unless its hating on Marleau or Praising Pavelski, just saying. I will say this he never changes his opinion on stats that hasnt changed in 3+ years lol

Have to respectfully disagree here, Kork. Rules is incredibly consistent with posting his agenda to convince others of his views. As is evidenced here, he doesn't even need to watch the game to conclude that it was the same old story he's been telling us all along. And if that didn't convince you he just got a ringing endorsement from the most respected poster on the board. If Stephen Hawking endorsed your grasp of astrophysics, I would listen up.

I wasnt wrong about pavs. I wasnt wrong about patty. I wasnt wrong about mcginn (so far), I wasnt wrong about moore. I wasnt wrong about zues.

I've had missed opinions on some trades in the past. I didnt like the boyle deal because I wasnt sure the wrist was 100% and the age was concerning. I was dead wrong there.

Like everyone else, no one perfectly picks them all. No one has an ideal crystal ball. However, I've been watching moore for well over a month now, and he simply sucks. He is even worse defensively than mitchell and about the same offensively. Backing up my assertions, opinions, and observations with statistics and facts seems to be worse on this board than just saying what you think because that's how you see it.

btw, I will once again say that I have not been all over marleau this season much because overall, he has been respectable (not worth nearly 7M), but he's been respectable at both ends, and when he is not scoring goals, he is at least skating hard and playing strong defensively and on the PK.

You had a bout a 2 month Patty bashing party but thats been about it this season, but i understand its hard for you to control you urges sometimes lol

You've been very wrong about Handzues, the guy was on pace for 10-12 goals before getting his finger broken, which would fit into your guidelines as a good 3rd/4th line player. Moore got hurt in his second game with the team and missed what 5? He has a combined 22 points on the season which once again for a 3rd/4th line meets your criteria. And its only been 16 games and your claiming your right, yet Mcginn your saying maybe your right? Hold a standard equal for everyone not just guys you hate and like.

Mitchell is likely to end with 10g which would also meet your criteria for a good 3rd/4th liner.

How you can say your right about the 3rd and 4th line is mind blowing considering there hasnt been a 3rd or 4th line thats been together all season long. Look those numbers up and come back with an answer. You cant pick and choose, your likely to find once you do all the numbers of the several players who played on the 3rd and 4th lines this season they meet or exceed your point totals for what you consider a good 3rd/4th line.

I have no idea what you mean in bold there?

zues' job was the fix the PK. the pk sucks. he is on a 9 goal annual pace in 14:30 per game and is amongst the largest minuses. He's even bee na healthy scratch at times. he has sucked. period.

Mitchell is on a 9 goal annual pace as well. He too is amongst the most minus. He too has sucked on the PK. He's also seen himself a healthy scratch. he sucks. period.

Moore is on a 5 goal annual pace. He is the most minus and was nearly the most on tampa too. He has been worse than terrible. Tmac has finally figured that out which is why he has seen his ice time diminish from averaging upwards of 15+ mins/game in through most of march to playing the fewest minutes of any shark in last game (excluding mitchell who had 1 second less). Also that does not coincide with havlat as in his first 2 games, moore was still getting over 15 mins/game. He's lost his ice because he sucks. Period.

Mcginn, I claimed on the day of the trade that he should go for 20-30 a year shortly. I didnt expect it this fast, admittedly, but still he is clearly showing that given the opportunity, he has top 6 skills. Obviously ,i cant calim that I was right about him being a 20-30 goals guy because he hasnt had a full season of opportunity, however, it sure looks like he'll easily hit 20 this year already, so there yah go...

Add up moore+mitchell+zues and you get an annual total pace of 23 goals from your entire third line. That is about half what I said is respectable (avg. 13-15 goals per player). That's a solid number from a 4th line playing 8-10 mins per game. 10 goals is the absolute minimum for an even reasonable 3rd liner.

Korky, You can argue forever that these guys are good acquisitions because that was your initial take and you are sticking to it, but the results speak for themselves. The PK still sucks, they are but far the worst line in terms of +/-, their goal production is a total joke (combined 3 goals in the last 20 or so games), there is just nothing they are doing consistently well.

If you think Mitchell sucks, raise your hand. If you think Handzus sucks, raise your other hand. You look like Dominic Moore saying, "what the hell you want me to do with these line mates!?"

There's a really fast guy that is horrible at grinding board play, and a slug that loves extended grind it out possessions. I thought Moore would add some solid, unspectacular two way play, then maybe be a playoff contributor like he was with the Lightning last season in their extended playoff run. I'm not convinced yet that he sucks. He needs a fair deal before I can write him off.
