Talent over position. And yea I was one who believed that Scherff was more talented than Williams.

That sounds good and all that, but I don't like making decisions that are absolute when it comes to the draft. It can get to be too fluid a situation. I'll say this about Scherff and his draft class. A case could be made that BS has been as good or better than anyone in that rd 1. Including Williams, Vic Beasley, A Cooper, Marcus Peters, Nelson Acholor(sp), and Gurley to name a few

You can't simply not draft a player high in the draft because of the position he plays. Using that mentality the Redskins would have never drafted Sean Taylor (RIP).

True enough. It was also that same mentality that led to drafting Laron Landry as well though. Schreff has been an outstanding pick for the Sklins....even as an OG. He's given us some nasty, something we lacked, even with Trent, till BS got here. and he's a significant reason for the improved pass blocking. Since that week 1 stinker BS has been doin the damn thing. I'm expecting a big game out of him Monday, some get back if you will for week 1.

I was mad at the pick but I don't remember saying he would fail. Especially at OG. I dont think you can judge Williams by his sack numbers. He is not that kind of player.

What ever Dean, you were convinced we would regret taking Scherff over Williams. The feeling I got was you thought it was a horrible pick that we would hate three years down the road when Williams was an all pro DPOY and Scherff was another average O-lineman.

Yep if a player churns out a multitude of Pro-Bowl level seasons and ends up in the hall of fame then reaching for him will be seen as an act of genius.

I don't get this whole he was/is bad vs he was/is good thing that you guys are talking about. Correct me if I'm wrong on this but, doesn't which team a player works for factor most? I mean take BS and put him on a bad team and he doesn't perform as well as he does with a much better one...right? Same thing for LW, I'll bet that he produces more if the surrounding cast/support system is stronger. BTW: didn't some of you guys use that same argument on Kirk?
