I don't think getting Bush or Spiller would be smart as a running back. I do, however, know that both are good returners. If we could get either for less than 2.5 mil I think it would be worth it as I believe they both return punts and I know both are great as a KR. That was the only glaring weakness last year sooo as long as its not too much a big play here and there would make it worth it. I LOVE the idea of Suh though, even if it means losing Maxwell, Mebane, and Zach Miller.

Yeah that's the problem, it's going to cost more then 2.5 million for these guys, better to find some young stud that cost you peanuts and perhaps can play a position.

As for Suh, would love seeing him on Seahawks, but that's not possible. Maxwell is most likely gone and it's not going to make the cap better, because he's not part of the cap. Cutting the other two you mentioned won't come close to the money it would take to sign Suh. Your just playing FF to consider it possible.

It's not out of the realm of possibility.... It's a long shot but it is possible... The man wants to be a Seahawk so that increases the chance... If he makes it all about top dollar then it won't work... But I"m sure he's smiling thinking about playing with this defense... Detroit isn't tagging him so... we'll see ...

Ah boogie, your making me smile. It's a dream. If it wasn't the money, he should sign with the Lions, that's his team and it's looking up, especially if he resigns. However it's always about the money, so he'll be a Jag or Raider next season.

Andre Johnson is about to be a free agent.....another option for the Hawks.

Kinda weird looking at his stats, doesn't score as many TD's as I thought.

You'd have to add at least McDaniel to your list of cap casualties for Suh.

Interesting rumor going around about Seattle being one of a few teams that are looking to sign former rugby star Jarryd Hayne to try out at running back. He's 6'2" 226 lbs and ran an unofficial 4.52 40 at a private workout for NFL teams.

Jarryd Hayne set to join Detroit Lions after impressing with speed, power and technique

the article is about him signing with Detroit, but his agent has stated that there is no deal in place there and no decision has been made. What are people's thoughts about bringing in a 26 year old converted rugby player?

He signed with San Fran, so I'm sure we'll get to know him (or not if it doesn't work out). Guaranteed $100,000, other than that I don't know the contract details.

Personally, I don't want him. He lost his starting job due to his horrible performance, and I don't see him as being the same kind of utility player that Harvin is. Also, having Harvin in the line up made the offense ineffective, so why would we wanna replace that? I don't think he'll be expensive after the season he just had, but I'm not sure I want him any more than I want Reggie Bush (who I also don't want).

I actually agree, plus he's brittle. I don't think he'll be expensive, but he'll command more than essentially the veteran minimum, which is the only price tag I can see Seattle considering him at.

Although he isn't a free agent but Andre Johnson is on the trading block

Yeah, but that's a $10.5 million price tag for this year ($11 million next). I'd rather wait and see if they cut him before considering him.

I'm not sure what the draft features in effective PR/KR's but if there are a few, I would rather spend a mid tier pick and $500G a year on a 22 year old that hopefully could get the job done.
We will have lots of picks this year.

Brandon Gibson was cap casulty by the dolphins, he's a local kid, I believe Puyallup HS, Went to WSU. Would be nice cheap option at WR.

We could do a lot worse. Kind of adds to the logjam of #3 WRs, though.

per Bob McGinn

"Green Bay — General manager John Schneider, who helped sign cornerback Tramon Williams to the Green Bay Packers' practice squad in 2006, now wants him starting for the Seattle Seahawks next season.

If the Packers don't re-sign Williams by the start of unrestricted free agency Tuesday, look for the Seahawks to make every attempt to secure him as Byron Maxwell's replacement opposite Richard Sherman.

A source close to Williams and his agent, Rodney Williams of Katy, Texas, told the Journal Sentinel that the Seahawks have made it clear they're going after the 31-year-old cornerback because they have little or no chance to re-sign Maxwell, an unrestricted free agent.

The Seahawks prefer Williams to other veteran cornerbacks because Schneider knows him from four seasons in Green Bay and views him as an ideal fit for coach Pete Carroll's aggressive Cover 3 coverage scheme.

Meanwhile, the Packers have told Williams they'll take him back on a two-year contract worth $8 million, according to a source. The team's proposal was rejected.

Williams would prefer returning to Green Bay but is seeking a three- or even four-year contract averaging at least $5 million. The source said Williams wanted significant guaranteed money as protection against being released.

Last week, a personnel director for an NFC team estimated Williams' value on the free-agent market at about $5 million per year. An executive in personnel for another NFC team said Williams should command an average of between $4 and $6 million.

"He just probably won't get as many years as he wants," the second NFC executive said. "He went from being really fast to fast. He could still do it. It's just how long can he still do it?"

In October, Williams expressed confidence that he could play four more seasons at a high level.

It was with fond memories in February that Williams remembered Schneider telling him early in his Packers' career that he wouldn't be dispatched to NFL Europe because Green Bay wanted its coaches to develop him.

The Seahawks would dearly love to retain Maxwell, and they're $24.3 million beneath the salary cap.

Maxwell, however, might be the hottest cornerback headed for free agency, and Seattle appears resigned to losing him.

Either nickel back Jeremy Lane or No. 4 cornerback Tharold Simon, with further development, might be suitable as Maxwell’s successor at right cornerback. Simon played poorly in the Super Bowl but had been much more effective earlier.

Lane probably won’t even play in 2015 after suffering a blown knee and broken arm in the Super Bowl. Simon is questionable after undergoing surgery last month for the dislocated shoulder that he suffered Dec. 21.

With $25.25 million in cap space next season committed to safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor and Sherman, the Seahawks see Williams as a reliable, durable veteran capable of playing every down outside or inside until help arrives.

Williams allowed the 35-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse in overtime that enabled Seattle to beat Green Bay, 28-22, in the NFC Championship Game. There was no safety help on the play.

In that game, Williams set up Ha Ha Clinton-Dix's two interceptions and covered well. In the opener, also won by the Seahawks in Seattle, he broke up two passes and didn't allow a completion for 20 yards or more.

Williams' proven ability to play both bump-and-run and off-coverage fits Carroll's scheme.

The Packers must make a decision not only on Williams but also cornerback Davon House, 25, who is bound for unrestricted free agency as well.

If Williams and House both depart, their cornerback depth chart would include Sam Shields, Casey Hayward, Micah Hyde, Demetri Goodson and Tay Glover-Wright.

Jarrett Bush appears headed for the unrestricted market as well.

Last season, Williams ranked sixth on the team in average salary per year at $8.25 million.

The Packers and Seahawks will meet at Lambeau Field this season."

I know there can be good players on bad defenses, but I'm not too excited about either of these guys.

Not sure if I want either of them either, but here's an interesting look at what profootballfocus thought of them compared to Maxwell this year:

(Out of 108 CBs)
Tramon Williams - #33
Byron Maxwell - #45
Cary Williams - #49
