The Pats only signed him for 1 year 2.5 million? That seems kind of low.

Glad to see he won't be a Patriot.

I agree, I'm even more surprised it took the Steelers this long to match such a low offer...

:confused2:

If I were the Steelers, I'd take as long as I possibly could so that the Pats have less time to know what they're g oing to do about their WR situation. If they know they're going to match, there's no use doing so ASAP rather than letting the Pats wonder for a while.

Aaron Wilson:

Chiefs signed Zach Diles to one-year deal and Akeem Jordan plans to sign with Kansas City. Also met with Sherrod Martin, Larry Grant

I went to High School with Zach. He was a RB in High School, but really blossomed as an ILB. He's had a hard time coming back from multiple injuries, but I'm glad the Chiefs gave him another shot. Just one more reason to root for the Chiefs this year.

Mike Iupati - G - 49ers

CSN Bay Area confirms the 49ers have had "preliminary" extension talks with LG Mike Iupati, but that no deal is imminent.

Per beat writer Matt Maiocco, there is no timetable on "striking an agreement." The 49ers' mauling left guard is coming off a monster 2012, but is still signed through 2014. Iupati would likely look to top new Titans G Andy Levitre (six years, $46.8 million) in any new deal.

Saints sign Seneca Wallace to back up Brees

Saints signed QB Seneca Wallace to a one-year contract.

Wallace, who turns 33 before the season, has completed 59.2 percent of his 764 career throws with a 31:18 TD-to-INT ratio and 6-15 record as a starter. A mobile quarterback with some experience at receiver, Wallace also averages 4.3 yards per career rushing attempt. Wallace will compete in training camp with Luke McCown to be Drew Brees' primary clipboard holder. Former Saints longtime backup Chase Daniel left for greener pastures in Kansas City.

@RapSheet 1m

Waiting on terms of #Packers/Clay Matthews' extension. Expect in the $13M range. Meanwhile, QB Aaron Rodgers is up next.

What kind of Money do you think Aldon will be trying to get based on this Clay deal?

Doesn't Clay have a DPOY on his resume? I would hope we get Aldon locked up next year at around $12 per for 6 yrs.. Kaep I think is gonna get $16 per for 5 after next year as well.

IF Kaep keeps up his play - ie passing skills - he'll command close to $20M per season. cause why wouldn't he be one of the best paid?

similarly, Aldon would get about the same as Mathews.

Matthews is probably getting around 10 per with the fluff at the end making it look like 13 per. Flacco isn't getting anywhere close to the 20 per everyone is hyped about. His deal was so backloaded it gets re-done in about 3 years. He is making 6 and change the first year for crying out loud.

Look at what the franchise number is for a position and you will get an idea of how teams structure the first 3 years or so of these eye candy deals. I think it is 9 and change at Clay's position.

Wow that is a lot less money than I expected for signing bonus. Very good news for doing Aldon. I can't wait to see the structure on this deal.

Branden Albert - T - Chiefs

The Chiefs have given the Dolphins permission to negotiate with LT Branden Albert.

This will set the wheels in motion quickly. The Chiefs reportedly want a second-round pick for Albert, who is in search of a long-term deal and a home at left tackle. After losing Jake Long to the Rams, the Dolphins appear very interested in accommodating. They have two second-round picks and plenty of money under the cap thanks to the back-loading of their free-agency signings. Albert will take a physical with Miami and begin contract talks.
