Losing Goldson sucks but it isn't the end of the world. Our FS didn't make this defense great. Although he's a great player don't discount the entire side.
Not to mention our secondary had a great season. Lets see how things pan out. Maybe we even draft two DB's/safeties in the first few spots.

Now I'm not saying don't upgrade over current players. But lets just hold the horses on making extreme dire need trades ie. Revis

Miami signed Brent Grimes (or Grimey, as he likes to be called) to a 1 year 5.5 million dollar deal.

Dolphins aren't screwing around.

So are the NINERS waiting for the draft to happen? I haven't seen too much happening so far as of UFA signings.

i think FAs are also waiting to take advantage of team's post-draft needs. I'm sure the Niners made an offer to Nnamdi and he's just waiting for after the draft in hope that a team still in need of DB help will offer more $$$.

From Glazer:

Raiders traded a late 2014 and 2015 pick for Matt Flynn. I really think McKenzie sucks at his job.

AZ is working on trading a late pick to Oakland for Carson Palmer.

It is back loaded a little bit in the last two years but they have themselves on the hook for a big number in 2015.

Matt Flynn - QB - Raiders

Raiders acquired QB Matt Flynn from the Seahawks in exchange for two late-round draft picks in 2014 and 2015.

Per FOX's Jay Glazer, the Raiders are "trying to finalize" trading Carson Palmer to the Cardinals for a "late pick" in a corresponding move. The Flynn terms still represent a steep price for a team with no chance of competing in 2013, and is all but bereft of premium picks in this month's draft, with just three selections in the Top 171. The Raiders can ill-afford to flip future selections. Flynn may well prove capable of managing games at half the price of Palmer, but he lacks even average arm talent and his "track record" consists of lighting up a Lions team that had already clinched a playoff spot in Week 17 of 2011. The Raiders are going to need Flynn to vastly exceed expectations for the move to be worth it. GM Reggie McKenzie's vision has proven muddled through 1 1/2 offseasons on the job.

Mannnn, if the Rams were really smart, they'd go after this guy in a heartbeat:

Andre Smith - T - Bengals

SI's Peter King believes the "door is open" for free agent RT Andre Smith to leave Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Sunday the sides are "not close" to a new deal. Cincinnati's offer is clearly of the "take it or leave it" variety, but the problem for Smith is that he hasn't so much as made a visit since the start of free agency. The longer he waits, the less he may end up settling for in the Queen City.

@JasonLaCanfora

Osi Umenyiora's deal with ATL, will make $5M total in 2013. Has a $2.5M base in 2014, and $1M roster bonus. Could be 1yr, $5M

I posted that we traded for Colty McCoy in the 49ers off-season thread.

@AdamSchefter

Terms of deal: Browns agree to trade QB Colt McCoy and 6th-round pick to San Francisco for 5th- and 7th-round picks. Niners have new backup.

I don't really like this move at all. Never thought much of Colt McCoy in the NFL and thought he was more a product of the spread in college and even then over rated. But that is my opinion and I am not an NFL GM or Coach.

I don't see any down side to this move (besides his salary). 9 spots in the 6th round is nothing.

However, he only has 1 year on his contract. Ehh...

It is real, all the 49ers beat reporters have reported as well as JLC, Schef and Rapsheet.

That is one of the worst sounding moves I've seen the 49ers make in a long, long time. Yuck! He's one of my least favorite QBs to come into the NFL since 1998.

Alot of people on the ESPN boards were making fun of me when he came out because I was relentless about how awful I thought it'd be if anybody drafted him (anywhere in the draft).

I also told alot of the ESPN regulars that if Colt McCoy ever developed into a top 16 or above average NFL QB that I'd legally have my name changed to Colt McCoy. What a disgusting move mentally for me! Yuck!
