Wow, that's a massive deal for a safety. The largest deal so far by a long shot. I feel like they have more pressing needs.

This Byrd signing is puzzling. I don't see how a safety's gonna fix a defense that only has 1 great player on it & the team doesn't have a lot of cap space or any high draft picks. The Saints seem like a team that can't admit they peaked a few years ago & have been declining ever since.

The saints defense made a major improvement last year. As long as they have Brees there is hope.

I kinda think Brees is on the decline too. He had big arm / physical limitations at Purdue; now he's 35. He's not the same as he was a couple of years ago IMO.

Well I agree that they need to get him signed long term or get something back for him. Apparently the only way to do that was to franchise him. Byrd's money could have helped pay for a long term deal.

Martin is good depth. I hope he gets his confidence back and gets stronger in the gym.

If it is a 7th round pick I have no problem with this move.
