Back in 2010 there was a game that was very very similar to yesterday's game. The difference was the outcome. We lost after staging a tremendous comback. I think the game was against the Reds.

This was the game where "He Who Shall Not Be Named" clearly went off the deep end. This is when he started to preach that the Giants were done and that no team could recover for a loss such as that. He went on for DAYS about that loss. I think we came back from 9-1 or something like that to tie the game and then lose it in the late innings. NN (his other name) must have stayed on that theme for just about the remainder of the season and we all know how that turned out!.

I posted that this game reminded me of that game in the GDT. That game was the lynchpin in 2010. It showed the team that the game is NEVER over.

I still get giddy thinking that in 2010, the Giants never once faced an elimination game.

That is impressive.

That's OK. We made up for that in 2012.

LOL

Yes they did. 6 Elimination games in the first 2 rounds alone.

It's nice to have two recent titles to compare and contrast.

Just think how interesting a third one would be. This team certainly has some qualities that the other two didn't.

BTW, I see Morse has mitigated his negative dWAR in the last week or so. Went from -0.6 to -0.3. Made a very nice play, too, up against the fence in Atlanta.

Comparing 2010 to 2012, on paper the 2012 team was better (not by a lot) but they had a much rougher road in the playoffs. Which shows how random the playoffs are.

I don't know if it's the even-numbered year but the way these guys are playing (still early) it feels kind of like those years did...

Confidence counts. A hot start can make a team fight all year to maintain relevance. The Brewers will probably be contenders all year...they won't have this good a winning pct of course but they now have confidence they are a good team and can compete, they will be buyers not sellers, etc. Rockies maybe as well.
