The Seattle Seahawks are the oldest team in the NFL to hot have recorded a tie; Carolina, Jacksonville and Houston are the only other teams to be tie-less.

Carolina had a tie this year.

Yes, but they got that tie nearly a month after I posted that.

Sorry....didn't look at that and just saw this thread for the first time.

Craig Morton started 2 Super Bowls, one for the Dallas Cowboys and one against the Dallas Cowboys - he lost them both. He threw as many INTs (4) as completions in Super Bowl XII, and had a total of 7 INTs in his Super Bowl starts.

Despite having only 1 losing record in 5 years as a start (9 or more starts) and posting a career record over .500, Kyle Orton has never started a playoff game. He went 10-5 as a rookie in 2005, but Lovie Smith decided to start Rex Grossman in their loss against the Panthers in the playoffs. It was the only time Orton's team made the playoffs (Grossman complete 17 of 41 passes for 192 yards with a td and an int).

It hasn't been since the 1983 playoffs since there has been 0 rushing touchdowns by a QB during the playoffs. Tom Brady's 4 yard TD on Saturday extended the 30 year streak.

Ken Stabler went 11 seasons without posting a season total for rushing higher than 0 yards (1974-1984). He rushed for -52 yards over that span, and had only 82 rushing yards for his entire career.

Carolina had a tie this year.

On a related note, I haven't worn a tie in 15 years. Thank God Boeing isn't one of these formal, high falluting East Coast corporations.

The Dallas Cowboys picked 2 QBs #1 in 1989, Troy Aikman and Steve Walsh (Supplemental). Walsh would start for the Cowboys only win that season, and would also start a playoff game first (1990 for New Orleans). This move made Dallas forfeit their 1990 first round pick (which would have been #1 overall) with which they could have easily drafted a future Hall of Famer from Maryland - Cortez Kennedy.

Man, I would have thought that last one would've gotten some attention, with Tez being involved.... :)

1983 marked the first season in which NFL QBs threw more TDs than INTs. There were 625 passing TDs while only 620 INTs that year. 1985, was the last time there were more INTs than TDs. Just to show you how far the league has come in that respect, 2014 saw 803 TDs and 449 INTs.

Well that's what the rule changes have done. Not that many of those changes didn't happen until well after the mid 80's, but in today's game of protecting the QB's and receivers as far as they do it's hard to imagine more ints than TD's league wide.

I'll do tomorrow's stat today, here it is:

Russell Wilson was the second player to win a Conference Championship game while throwing 4 interceptions or more. The other was George Blanda in 1961 - Blanda threw 5 interceptions, but hit Billy Cannon for a 35 yard TD in the 3rd quarter for the only TD of the game as the Oilers beat the Chargers 10-3. Blanda would also throw 5 interceptions in the 1962 rematch that saw the Oilers lose to the Chargers 20-17.

Troy Aikman missed 12 games his first three seasons (including playoffs), and the Cowboys were 7-5 in those games. Their .583 record without him crushed the .359 record they had with him. He would more than make up for their faith in him by winning nearly 75% of his games over the next 5 years.

There are only 3 QBs who averaged 1 passing td or less a game for their entire careers to make it to the Hall of Famel; George Blanda, Bart Starr and Troy Aikman.

In the years that he started for the Cincinnati Bengals (1972-1984), Ken Anderson never posted a completion percentage lower than the league average.

There have been 4 players with 50 career interception to never make a pro bowl; Ken Riley (65), Terrell Buckley (50), Don Burroughs (50) and John Harris (50). All 4 had at least one season with 9 or more interceptions. Ken Riley was named a 1st team All-Pro in 1983.
