It would be insanely stupid for the Eagles to franchise tag Foles. Foles would sign the contract immediately. That would fully guarantee the contract. He'd hold a press conference saying he wanted to play for the Eagles for the rest of his career. He'd say if the Eagles traded him he'd refuse to show up for the new team during camp. That would nuke any 1 year trade talks. Any team trading would have to agree a long-term deal with him for a lot of guaranteed money AND pay the Eagles trade compensation. Not going to happen. Wentz will also want an extension which the Eagles couldn't afford so the Eagles would be forced into under-selling him. Then they'd have the problem of what to do about Foles in the future. They don't want a repeat of the Redskins - Cousins debacle. It would be a mess.

The Eagles already hold the winning hand. Foles has out-performed his contract, they've squeezed an extra $2M out of him, and they're likely to get a compensatory pick in 2020. They'd be insane to screw it up when there's so little potential upside to tagging Foles.

The issue here comes down to this: By tagging and trading Foles, they might get a pick this year, in the 2019 draft. By letting him go as a free agent, they would get a compensatory pick, but not until the 2020 draft.

It's all about getting the pick this year if possible. And keeping him from wearing Redskins burgundy and gold, or Giants blue.

Oh well then u should probably educate yourself as well.

Explain how making foles pay 2 mill is doing right by him?

Explain how not trading him to a place he can start is Doing right by him?

And that’s fine. I’d agree with that move. But don’t come out and publicly tout doing right by him then pull moves .

I’m not talking about Foles. I’m talking about the same exact thing. Exercising the teams right on the contract they signed. Foles and Franchised guys and 5th year options are all the same exact thing. Teams blocking players from UFA
Again , all that’s fine. But don’t talk about how ur doing right by him

Who says they won't trade him to a place where he can start? Let's see what happens before making shit up, but if the most likely buyers are Jacksonville and Denver as rumored, he is going to be starting.

And on the $2 million option, that was what both sides agreed to a year ago. Foles got paid more the first year with this in mind--if he wanted to get out of his contract after one year, he could, but would have to give $2 million back. This isn't rocket science bro. You are making it sound like some evil deed when it was basic business.

Again, don’t tout yourself as doing right by him then pull routine business moves, it’s bush league. Come
Out and say one thing, do another.

Again, any way you want to spin it, they have him a million bucks they were not contractually obligated to give him. That is nice, don't you think?

As a Jags fan. I'm Unsure IF we go after him.

The Khans ( who own the Jags) just opened a new wrestling promotion that is generating ALOT of buzz in the wrestling world. If I were to compare it to something NFL.

It would be along the lines of Brady gets released.

It is just they seem, or there associates who are involved with the wrestling side, seem to be making news almost daily.

They might make a pitch but I don't know

Didn’t Foles agree to this less then a year ago. They’ve gone above and beyond for this guy and he deserved it.

1. New huge contract for a backup that they simply didn’t have to do.
2. Hey Nick, we got offered a 2nd round pick for you from Cleveland. We’ll only do it if your cool with it. Your choice Nick.
3. Hey, we know you didn’t hit this bonus but we will give you the million anyway. Enjoy.
4. Hey Nick, we think you’re very valuable. We want to exercise our contractual right that we agreed upon. SteelersPride “Eagles are dicks.”

That’s just ridiculous. They both agreed to this. They paid a back up 15 mill. They gave him a million dollar bonus he didn’t meet. If he thought it was bull crap he and his agent wouldn’t have agreed to it.
I’m sure Foles completely understands the business side. It’s no different then Dallas picking up their 5th year option on Zeke. Zeke could be a FA in 365 days but they used their right to keep him another year like Philly did. Is that a shit move by Dallas?
Well $20M guarenteed wasn't enough to keep him in Philthy. He turned it down within an HOUR. One hour.

Eagles-We love nick, we appreciated everything he did, we are going to do right by him. We will take care of him. We gave him a 1 million bonus he only came close to. THen we took 2 million back from him.

Lots of tongue in cheek talk

No shit... cause he wants $75,000,000 plus.
It's the same thing EVERYONE has been telling you idiots for over a year. Do we need to go back and pull up all the threads where Howie was going to keep everyone plus sign his new draft picks?
Philly can't even afford the $20M let alone the $25 guarenteed.
Big Dick Nick is getting ready to lay some Foles pipe.

Your comparisons are moronic.

Is there any any possibility the Eagles would keep both Wentz and Foles next season? If so baring injury would Foles be given a chance to win the starting job.

If Dallas picks up Zekes option, can he say no and pay to get out?

The Eagles have no intention to keep their only Super Bowl winning QB and the thank him with a 2 MILLION DOLLAR Bill.

If you are gonna come on here and just completely lie and make shit up I guess there’s nothing Eagle fans can say. We ALL said over and over that Foles will be gone, Brandon Graham and others as well to get under the cap. Of course Philly can’t afford Foles at 20 million. Don’t you understand there plan would be to sign and trade him. Jesus dude

None of this makes any sense.
1. How are my comparisons moronic. They are the exact same thing. Teams blocking there players from UFA. Same exact thing.
2. What does the point of Zeke not being able to opt out have to do with anything. That makes no sense or is it just an arbitrary statement out of nowhere?
3. Of course the Eagles have no intention of keeping him. I heard it was Foles agent who wanted the buy out clause. He specifically asked for it and your blaming the Eagles. It was nice of them to give him the out, the free million, the 16 million for a backup when they didn’t have to give him any raise at all. All they did was hook him up and hook him up. Hey Nick, can we trade you to Cleveland? No? Ok, we won’t burn you like that even though we can.
You are so worried that Philly dicked Foles and I bet Nick Foles doesn’t feel dicked or burned. His agent asked for this deal. His Dad is worth hundreds of millions. He’s getting ready to be worth over 100 million himself. He got paid almost 17 million for sitting the bench for 3 months.
