I guess the guys convinced him to come back for one more run.
If its for around 3 mil Ill be very happy with this.

Also bridges a bit longer for the guys developing

Honestly, I like this. This is probably better than any quick fix we could do. Signing a free agent would have been far too expensive and the length of the deal would have been too long. And trading would cost us too many important assets. If anything, this bridges the gap for another year for the younger guys like Morin, Hagg and Ghost. I think this basically means that Grossmann, Schenn or Mac are moving though. Can't have that expensive of a defense. I'd be cool with moving Grossmann and rolling out something like this:

Timonen - Coburn
Streit - AMac
Schenn - Ghost/Hagg

I think I'd actually prefer a higher cap hit so we can avoid signing any ridiculous contracts this summer

Craig Custance reporting its a $2 mil dollar deal with up to $4 mil in bonuses. If true, Kimmo is my hero. He could have easily gotten 5 mil on the open market and took far less to stay here.

I would like to trade Braydon Coburn and get some good picks in return if I'm completely sure there's someone to step in for his role, but I'm not sure that's the case yet

From Yesterday:

Then I signed Ales Hemsky for $4 million, Zach Redmond for $1.1 million, Kimmo for $3 million, Brayden Schenn for $3.1 million and Al Montoya for $850k

These are the lines I made:

Ales Hemsky - Claude Giroux - Jake Voracek
Scott Hartnell - Brayden Schenn - Wayne Simmonds
Jason Akeson - Sean Couturier - Matt Read
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare - Scott Laughton - Michael Raffl
Zac Rinaldo/Jay Rosehill

Mark Streit - Andrew MacDonald
Kimmo Timonen - Braydon Coburn
Luke Schenn - Zach Redmond
Oliver Lauridsen

Steve Mason
Al Montoya

$4,511,667 left in cap space

With Kimmo signing for 2 million, that would make it $5,511,667 in cap space

If it was certain that one of the young kids would step right in and do well then it'd be an absolute no brainer - Braydon Coburn has plenty of value, and I would love to see if we could get three second round picks like it was rumored last year
