The thing is, I'd actually like to see someone like that on the Flyers. Three-way rivalry between the Pens, Caps, and Flyers has been great for a few years now. They all have great role players, good goaltending (prediction), and stand in each others way in the playoffs. If the Flyers had someone in the conversation of Crosby vs Ovechkin, it would make it that much better.

Hell, maybe in a few years Giroux+JVR will equal a Sid or OV...but then the Cap's goaltending will be gone.

Courturier...no.

We shouldve signed Stamkos

The way I think of it; Crosby is the face of the Penguins. He was drafted by them and they built around him. The same goes for Ovechkin. This may sound like I'm being a jerk (which isn't meant to be the case), but the first player that comes to mind when I think of the Flyers is Scotty Hartnell. Just weird the way that works when they have Giroux, Pronger, Bryz, etc.

If Mike Richards was better offensively, and a little more mature, then it could have been him.

imo in makes the 3 way rivalry more intense.. the flyers are like 'the little guy' hitting and fighting their way to beat the superstars cause they dont have any of their own

its like rocky dude. perfect.

God dammit, you guys are making me uber excited for next Thursday. I dont want to have to fap the the "10 Greatest Flyers Games" DVD set again.

Second time in this thread I am saying this, but how about Mid-May Pens and Flyers fans unite forces momentarily to laugh at the Caps. IMO this is the last year they have any credibility to do anything. Better D, Solid goalie, still have their core. If they fuck this up I am just going to stop worrying about them

I can only imagine what would happen if the Flyers got a first overall pick in the next couple of years. Just think about how quickly that kid would be praised as the next Crosby or Ovechkin, then crucified for not averaging 100 points per season.

Ok. I used to want them to finish dead last, but not win the draft lottery, but I really want to see that.

We already have Brayden Schenn...close enough

True, but I wouldnt rank either of those guys in the ranks of Fleury and Bryz

As of now, no. But they are 23 and 22 respectively so they both still have some development to go through. Right now I wouldn't put Neuvy that far behind either of them because of his consistency and Holtby has more potential than Neuvirth does. We'll see in a few years, but I'd bet that 1 of those 2 will pan out.

*note I am also not a believer in Bryz

Well I dont/didnt know how good Neuvy and Holtby will be, but this is the year for the Caps to prove it. If you guys dont win the Cup this year I really dont understand how you can be favorited anymore. I like your changes on D, and I think Vokoun will be much better, but if you cant get it done there really isnt much else to be done.

Sure there is, change the coach. There are times when I think BB is underrated while others I think he's the most clueless coach in the history of hockey. He doesn't make in game changes, ever. Vokoun is an upgrade, but really isn't that much of one. The changes on defense this off-season were really made halfway through last year. It's more of a matter of will certain players show up when they are needed.

Never even thought about getting rid of Bruce. It will be very interesting to see what happens to him if you guys were to lose in the 1st or 2nd round this year.

Major changes. Without getting to the SCF, BB will be fired, Semin would be gone, Green might depending on how he played, and everyone's heart would be in question. I like how we look but I am cautiously optimistic, it comes with holding the record for most 3-1 series leads blown.
