I'm not saying to original team. Could we use Luongo in for example Anaheim in a Hiller and Ryan package? Just a hypothetical question. Just think there may be a loophole in the current CBA?

If there is a lophole im sure the pens will find it. :lame:

i'm pretty sure you can trade them wherever you want, as long as its not the original team.. i wouldn't consider that a loophole though, because if the team really wanted him that badly, they would've up'd their free agent offer.. rather than let him sign elsewhere and then trade assets for him

ya.. nobody will be officially bought out until this time tomorrow.. you can put people on waivers as of this minute haha, then they have 24 hours to clear before you can officially buy them out

So if you pick up for example Vinny Lecav off waivers do you have to pay him his whole salary?

yep.. 'recall waivers' was the waiver-type that split the cost between the former team and the new team.. ie if the flyers called up matt walker halfway through the season and florida claimed him, the flyers would eat half the salary/cap hit, the pantehrs would eat half the salary/cap hit.. that type of waivers no longer exists though if i'm not mistaken

So then why wouldnt a team pick up vinny or even Briere for half the salary ??

sorry, i didn't get my point through very well haha.. if a team claims vinny or briere they'll have the full contract, salary, and cap hit.

the split salary waiver type only existed under the last CBA (the one that expired last summer)

Okay, I like the Vinny FA signing.

But I don't understand why Cory Schneider isn't our starting goaltender.

Cant complain with the moves so far. They just signed another backup goalie today. I still think Mezz and Read go for a younger puck moving dman. Always though it would be Yandle or Enstrom but both were locked up long term. I can always dream!
