i dont understand why the offense is so bad this season.. without the PP they'd be screwed

i really think teams have figured out how to defend them (load up the neutral zone)

According to Lavy the issue is that they have "retooled the system" to stress defense....

28th in the league in 5 on 5 goals ratio. 28th. The flames and panthers are the only teams worse.

the more depressing thing to me is that i dont really think it's a lack of trying.. they've been getting roasted for that, but personally, i dont really think that's been the problem.. they're just playing really bad hockey.

I dont know about that AWAZ it just seems they just dont care anymore and havent for awhile. Lavi used to call timeouts and rip them on the bench and they would come out flying i think they may have tuned him out and are just going through the motions.

I think it may be time for a change behind the bench and i really like Lavi.

on the bright side though.. this season is ridiculously similar to the last dark season for the flyers..

mediocre goaltending
3 sophomores you're counting on to step up big (carter, richards, umberger)
first games after a lockout

so next year.. next year should be amazing

see i just think they're technically flawed.. i still see guys going in hard after pucks, but when they get the puck they turn it over.. and defensively they just dont seem to know their assignments.. they're getting back (most of the time) on defense, but they're just skating to space rather than marking someone

The problem is we dont have any pure goal scorers. Jake has had a career year but no one else is scoring. Schenn, Briere, Hartnell, Couts have all been major disappointments. Now Read has stopped. Before being injured, Talbot forgot how to score. 5 starters on defense out and we still need goal scorers.
