ya i'm gunna wait too.. the way i see it the roster is done.. leighton will be the starter with boosh or backlund backing up (what's backlund's number i cant remember?).. bobrovsky should be the phantoms starter though so i dont know what they plan on doing with the boosh/backlund situation.. im startin to think boosh gets the waive and backlund is the backup

i'll say it again, leighton is going to start the season as the starter between the pipes.. i'd put a lot of money on it..

i think the flyers are done, and i'm happy with it.. i think during the off-season they'll have some open competition for goalie, 3rd/4th line wingers (got some AHL guys worth a look), the guys that dont make the cut will get waived.. 900k isn't enough to play with during the season if that is all they have.. i'll run more numbers after work and get up another post like the top 1

that looks like a legit number haha.. 577k is NOT enough to go through the season.. gotta think boosh is out to make it 1.4 mil for tweaks during the season (ahl call-ups and such)

i can smell another NCAA try-out contract frenzy at the end of the season

backlund would start on the phantoms and bobrovsky would be the backup. they would probably both get some good playing time though.

no point in waiving boucher and bringing up backlund. they make almost identical amounts. there is a trade that is going to happen either way. i could actually see coburn being traded.

i could see that too.. i really hope homer just stops, and somehow when we re-work the numbers after all this crap calms down we have like 1.5 mil in cap space haha..

IMO this team is set up amazingly.. with the 6 d-men the flyers have i wouldn't be too upset if they put one of those plastic goalie screens in front of the net.. they'd still be a favorite to win the cup

if they did not sign shelley everything would have worked out. i am so confused.

agreed.. that's a very bizarre signing.. he's just as useless as cote, but costs twice as much

Qualifier: I am salary-cap challenged and admit to knowing few of the cap-related rules... so sorry if this is elementary :)

Question: I was curious to hear from you guys about what would happen if we cut Shelley before the season started? From what I understand, we can go up to 10% over the cap without penalty as long as we are below it come October 1. Could we simply sign another G or a decent forward and simply be over the cap for now and see what we can do btw now and October to get below the cap? For example, trading a higher-priced forward.

Thoughts?

i think they will either trade for a goalie or have a deal worked out with nabokov or turco and then trade somebody right when they sign the goalie. if it happens.

2 questions:

1.) Did you calculate with Timonen's cap hit at the 6.3 you listed, or the 6.333 that it is? That would cut 60% out of available cap space if you didn't include that.
2.) Why is Cote still there, and is he counting against us?

1. fairly certain i calculated it at 6.33.. i ran the numbers as precise as i could, rounded for posting purposes

2. ya, until he gets waived, assuming nobody wants him via trade, he'll count against the team.. highly unlikely he'll still count come oct. 1

also.. i'll say it again, i highly doubt another goalie comes to philly.. they already have 3, plus bobrovsky who will compete for the starters job in adirondack at the very least.. no way they sign a 4th goalie to an NHL contract.. once they signed leighton i knew thats as far as they were gunna go

if they get a new goalie, trade or otherwise, it wont be until (if) this crew fails

if i'm wrong i wont post for a week

At this point, I believe it's time to state the obvious......Homer isn't done yet and until he is...I'm just going to watch you guys knock the numbers around. :)

ander, timmonen is counted as 6.333. i think he just rounded when he posted. if you go to the website all you have to do is click a box next to timmonen. you only have to input the numbers for guys you are theoretically adding.

Agreed. This is not done yet. Our defense is set but our forwards are not and we have two RFA's remaining with not enough money left to even sign them. Cote is signed but there's no way he'll dress as a Flyer. There's just not enough cap room to work with overall.

It looks more and more to me like one of Carter/Gagne/Hartnell (likely Gagne) will be traded to clear space for an upgrade in net (likely Nabokov), then Boucher will be traded or bought out and that would leave space to re-sign Powe/Carcillo to fill out the roster.
