so...all you philly peeps are banking on a trade then? no FA pick up? i guess as far as money goes, regardless someone's gotta bite the dust. an interesting thing about this offseason is that there are a LOT of FA, vet goalies that may end up without a job in the NHL. it's a diluted market for skaters, but a congested one for goalies.

i havent ruled out a FA.. ellis or mason i think would be pretty decent fits.. i think a lot of flyers fans have really worked up a storm about trading carter.. it makes sense to me but i dont know if the flyers brass are as willing to part with him as the fans are haha

and at this point the most logical return for him would be a goalie

dang man you got some serious hatred for quick haha.. i haven't seen a whole lot of him so maybe i'm missing something.. but 39 wings a .907 save percentage and a 2.54 GAA are pretty solid if you ask me.. that GAA can only go down playing behind the defense the flyers are putting together right now

he did have a pretty rough go in the playoffs.. but thats also a very young kings team out there experiencing the playoffs for the first time.. plus who knows why samuelson decided to go ape shit in the playoffs this year

davn, the kings fan answerin some questions in the flyers section, has nothing but good things to say about quick.. said he thought quick stole too many games to count for them this season

I can't think of one game all year when I said, "Quick stole that one".

The 39 wins are impressive, the 2.54 GAA leaves something to be desired, but the save percentage is horrible, and he choked when it mattered most. If we learned anything this year, it's that the playoffs, especially the Finals, are a completely different kind of animal. Some guys can handle it, some can't. Leighton couldn't. Quick hasn't shown anything to suggest he can either.

I think it would be too soon to say either way, but idiot would be stong

I agree, I really wasn't trying to imply that Yzerman was an idiot. To be perfectly honest, the fact that Yzerman went there slipped my mind. Like I said though, he hasn't proven himself to be a hockey guru yet either. However I still hold that everyone left behind from the old regime in Tampa are idiots. ;)

woopsie on the reading of what dave had to say haha.. and i guess you make some decent points.. for some reason i thought the 2.54 was pretty solid, it was really only middle of the pack.. so i'll back off my desire for quick.. i still dont know that bernier is my first choice tho.. i'm just not sold on bringing in a guy that doesn't have any NHL experience, he had 3 good games but leighton also had 3 shutouts in 4 games in the playoffs.. so you cant put too much stock in that

I'm sorry but I was working on a Project in LA and I watched plenty of games including the playoffs and Quick is definitely a solid goalie. I dont think Quick choked by any means. He was playing against a ridiculously hot line in the playoffs and the entire team was just out matched.

I'm glad everyone thinks so lowly off him, hopefully it carries over to Dean and he lets him go for a bargain!

I dont know how you can say Leighton just didnt have it, he came off injury and beat a team that had 3 wins on us, and another team that neither Washington or Pittsburgh could get past. I was pretty impressed with Leighton, he basically saved our season.

imho, the main reason the Canucks won the first round wash that Johnny Quick melted down before Luongo had a chance to.

there are a boatload of UFA goalies this year - what's wrong with someone like Turco?

There are a bunch this year, but none are really any good. Turco was too old to carry a team when it needed it years ago. Nabokov chokes. Mason is a nice addition, probably the best available for the price, but still has but a single playoff win to his credit. Granted, he played on some pretty weak teams, but I can't dismiss others for choking in big games when Mason has a .111 winning percentage in the playoffs.

Next year is the big year for goalies. Howard, Vokoun, Bryzgalov, and Anderson are all UFAs with S. Mason, Varlamov, Bernier, Enroth, and Elliot all RFAs. Unfortunately, we can't wait another year. Not with Giroux, Gagne, Carter, and Leino all in need of new contracts.

He's just not the same goalie he used to be.

He just seemed to be stagnant in Dallas last year (who can blame him).
Call it a hunch, but he seems like a prime candidate for a resurgent season somewhere that actually gives a shit about hockey.

i agree with this.. the key is how much money is he gunna get.. i'd be ok with him around 3, 3.5.. 4 tops.. anywhere close to his 5.7 from last year and you can count me out..

also something thats highly under-rated.. he always has AWESOME masks
