OVECHKIN NOTE

One of the things he struggled with until finding his scoring touch last year was getting pucks on the net - he was frequently putting it wide and guys were figuring out how to block him. In the first 5 periods this year, he's releasing quick and avoiding the blocks and he has put 16 shots on net and out of 18 shots total. That's more like it and he already has 3 goals to show for it.
