As sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, Fisher is again touted as the Rams coach of the future? Nothing from the playoffs since 2003, losing record with the Rams in his 4 years (be it better then we had) but still 2nd tier in the division. I was hoping they would wait and see this season but they just might take him on for the near future until they see what LA and Goff can bring to the table. So far in his time it has been scraps at best but with kind of a new passing interest ( by looking into all Rams OTA posts) news guys might just turn that 32nd ranked passing offense to 29th? We will see and cross the fingers.:hope:

This should be a no holds barred thread y'all.

Realistically this topic can't be discussed without some frustrations.

So have at it!

He's got a young team and very young offense no doubt. 2nd year RB. 2nd year guys on the O-line. G-rob is a 3rd year guy. Rookie QB.

He can definitely play the "they're really young and learning" card.

Looking through all the NFL speak with Rams players, new and older, I do like the tone but can Fisher turn them into a winner? There is talent but I can't say I especially like the talent in the coaching box.

We have been asking these same questions every year Blue. Frankly, I am dead tired of it.

he can't play that "we're a young team" card anymore; that crap isn't' gonna fly. The piece of sh!t is a failure as a coach and should have never made the flight to LA.

A few thoughts,

  • I like that Fisher is no longer on the Competition Committee, always felt it was a distraction.
  • Gregg Williams is one of the premier Coordinators in the League.
  • Rob Boras had a decent start to his career, went 3-1 since his promotion.
  • Mike Groh could be the missing link and help Goff by implementing the spread for game situations.
  • John Fassel has done much better the last few years with Special Teams, love the gadget plays that seem to work more often than not.
  • With Mike Groh replacing Ray Sherman as WR coach, it could be addition by subtraction.
  • Always liked Paul Boudeau
  • Frank Bush has his work cut out for him this year losing James from the LB corp.

Technically, he can. The Rams have been the youngest team in the league for the past 4 years, and just shed multiple vets in favor of adding younger replacements and another draft class. They will most likely be the youngest team in the league yet again.

Since when is a "young team" an excuse after 5 years? So I guess that's the key huh? Just keep getting rid of older guys, bring in young ones and never get fired no matter the results? Interesting...

Not an excuse, but reality. If he doesn't have a winning team soon, he'll be long gone before they move into the new stadium.

Reality is that we haven't had a winning season with him as coach. Name another coach who gets half a decade without a singe winning season? Answer: No one!!!

He is an outlier, that's for sure. That said, his Rams teams have been extremely close to being .500 or above while still being very flawed, notably offensively as the rebuild fortified the defense first, all while playing in the toughest division in football.

I agree with you there. But it seems like as he's FINALLY starting to build the O, we're losing pieces on D and don't know for sure if we have the talent to replace them(CB,S,LB,DE). That's what is continuing to scare me this offseason. If our O takes a step up, but our D takes a step back, we'd still be a mediocre team...

...and that could be the straw that breaks the Fisher's back. However, the Rams haven't had prime Long or Laurinaitis for a few years now, so that drop-off shouldn't be too severe on defense.

What scares me more about the LB situation is Tree coming off a major injury and the lack of depth. As for DE, true about Long but at least he was there for leadership on the sidelines if he wasn't producing/playing. We need guys to fill that leadership void along with those positions.

Hopefully Donald can be that guy, if not it pretty much has to be Quinn. Tree could help there, but I think figuring out the MLB position will be enough for him to deal with this season.

Don't count out the new additions of Easley, Coples, and that UDFA Brian Randolph. I think their will be little, if any, decrement in our D especially since Williams is still around running the show.

I like Fish, I think he's the right man as the Rams field a team in Los Angeles.

They have been more competitive with Fish as the HC (10-38 in the 3 previous seasons before his arrival).....it isn't his fault they play in the brutal NFC West.

I hope you're right!!! I'm hoping those guys can plug right in and play great. Not sure I'd want to depend on an UDFA in his rookie season though..
