I guess the moral of the story is it is ok to Fir the IBB to Rangers even whe behind to to the lackluster Rangers bullpen

Knew the pitching wasn’t going to be good this year. But didn’t think it was going to be this bad. When some of the injured pitchers get back, Patton needs to stay.

I was expecting decent to bad pitching, but we are getting atrocious Pitching nearly every game. We are losing games where we score more than 5+ runs consistently. A lot of good offense being wasted by a combination of bad startijg pitching, bad defense, bad bullpen, and questionable managing.

still think we should have signed 1 or 2 decent relievers

Woody lost that game!!!!!! Had he had his head in the game he would not have let Allard get into so much trouble and that was the turning point in the game. I was so disgusted I turned it off and watched Miss Kitty down a couple.

Last night pitching was bad but until then I give pitching a better grade than you. Allard had been good before last night. Barlow and Patton too. Also defense has improved since 1st and 2nd games. Agree about managing. Woody humiliated the team last night. The bull pen has been about separating the good, bad and ugly so we should expect to see some disappointment.

FWIW. I have never been an Allard fan. I could be wrong but he looks like what we see now is what we are going to get
Re SBorz. I get the thought that Woody favors him but for a while I am ready to give a few more looks as he throws 97 but it might be as straight as Kirkmans. Curious about Abreu as they face a huge knock to LF. Like they knew what was coming.
I always liked Patton as he pitches back just chunking it but talent wise he is not meant to be a closer or even 7-9 inning guy. Do think he has a place in the squad though
Santana meh
Burke should have pitched yesterday. A keeper
Howard to me should go ahead and start on AAA. No relief stuff for now. Let him earn his spot back. Maybe Otto up as suggested as a bridge but he may end out as a reliever

What I hate is when pitchers nibble ba challenging hitters. This ends up in walks which has come back to bite this year

Nice for me to be able to see games this year. Like to assess what I see bs hear or highlights

Here aee some interesting takes by Scott Lucas on the Round Rock game.

Glenn Otto held the Space Cowboys (adieu, Skeeters) scoreless and nearly hitless for four innings. Notably, Otto threw nearly as many curves (10) as sliders (12) and generated two of his three swinging strikes with that pitch. It runs the same speed as his slider (low 80s), has nice depth and sometimes a little slidery run. It certainly provides a different look that makes the upstairs fastball stand out.

Tyson Miller frustrates hitters a his low-slot delivery that looks like it's coming in from third base. I've seen him pitch very well at times, and he might deserve another MLB look at some point. The "might help" group is pretty large.

Bubba Thompson isn't hitting with Huffian force (no one is) but is making solid contact and isn't striking out so much (11 in 41 trips). He's still looking for his first walk. But like my daughter who immediately calls for a parent whenever she misplaces something, he might not be looking very hard. The walks are wherever you put them last, Bubba, keep looking.

Scott Lucas' AA report:

SP Cody Bradford: 5 IP, 3 H ,2 R, 3 BB, 5 SO, 73 P / 48 S, 3.86 ERA
RP Fernery Ozuna: 1.2 IP, 2 H ,0 R, 0 BB, 4 SO, 0.00 ERA
RP Chase Lee: 1 IP, 1 H ,0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 0.00 ERA
1B Blaine Crim: 4-5, 2 2B
LF Dustin Harris: 3-4, 2B
C David Garcia: 2-3

Bradford's three walks match a career high. His motif is control and command,

Chase Lee did what he does. Fernery Ozuna has fanned ten of his first 22 batters. Last year, Ozuna had a pretty good walk rate (8.6%) combined with enough hit batters (4% rate) to push his overall control into the below-average category.

AA pitchers hadn't received the memo about Dustin Harris's borderline top-100 prospect status. He was batting .143 with a walk before last night. San Antonio isn't a hitter's park -- facing prevailing winds and dimly lit -- but Blaine Crim likes it just fine, collecting six hits including three doubles in three games.
