BTW...

I AM surprised to not see Gillaspie out there.

1) He had a GREAT game yesterday.
2) Melon has stated he will have a big role on the team next year.
3) DeRo is a great guy, but he has no connection to the fans, so an on-field finale is not necessary, or appropriate.

It would be better to have Ross "start" the game and replace him before the first pitch. Now HE deserves that kind of send off.

Good point re: Cody. However, the DeRo start is a nod to his relationship with the team (and Bochy). At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter; this is essentially an exhibition game.
