I agree with all the decisions the Skins made for the final cuts except one. The release of Paea to keep Lanier is puzzling. Lanier could of easily been stashed on the practice squad. The guy is raw and doubtful that another team would of picked him up. Paea would of gave us a decent backup in the DE rotation. Plus he could of filled in at NT b/c of his strength. It was only a million in savings by cutting him. Plus there could be a huge hole next year at DE b/c Baker, Hood, and Reyes are FA's.

It is time we take the SM glasses off and evaluate his first offseason free agent list. He did very well with in-season signings but we can no longer ignore this list::

Paea
Knighton
Culliver
Jeron Johnson
Xavier Nixon
RJF

Ouch.

I was kind of concerned when I read that Ioannidis game was overpowering his opponent, then I read that he was only 285 and wondered how that would work in the big boy league. In a draft loaded with DL, an obvious need, it sucks that we didn't improve at all there in either of the last 2 drafts. This will be a very big problem going forward.

Again, we are going on about the DL and the draft. How are the guys we passed up doing?

Kenny Clark is listed as a backup.
Robert Nkemdiche is listed as third string.
Vernon Butler is listed as a backup.
Chris Jones is listed as a backup.
Austin Johnson is listed as a backup.
Ashawn Robinson is listed as a third stringer and sooo many loved him here.
Andrew Billings is listed as a third stringer and on IR.

Jihad Ward is listed as a starter but wasn't really talked about as a first rounder where we would have had to get him or at least trade up ten spots in the second.

Jarran Reed was talked about as a first rounder by us or we could have traded up five spots to get him in the second. He is listed as a starter in Seattle.

Point is...this was the most overrated defensive line class I have ever seen by the so-called experts.

Great post. I was one of the posters who wanted to pass on the dline this year in the 1st round for Kelly or Doctson.

But your logic wasn't the DL was overrated. Your logic is it was sooo deep we could get one later. Just because the result is right doesn't mean the thought was.

I was as wrong as anybody because I wanted Billings...not necessarily in the first. I was very happy with Doctson and Cravens has really grown on me. Time will tell.

Ask yourself one question... if we had drafted any of these guys, would Ziggy Hood or Kedric Goldston be starting for us right now?? I mean Honestly Kendall Fuller is our 3rd/4th CB. Not because he doesnt have the talent to be a starter, but because we have the depth at the position where he isnt forced to start.

Any of these D-lineman you listed would start for us.

1. You are ommitting one name, the guy playing for the Jets. Again my post said we didn't get any help in the last 2 drafts and as I said a year and a half ago DL was as big of a need as OL.

2. I think it's fair to wait a bit before evaluating this DL draft class. Posting where they are on the depth chart before they have started their career as a way of assessing the entire class is way premature.

We have 9 LBers and 11 DB's on the roster. Gotta figure 1 of them will be cut to pick up a running back someone else cut. Yes, I think we need 4 RB's - considering the lack of durability of the 2 "veterans" we have.

Big congrats to Lanier and Austin Reiter. Hopefully, they stay on the roster. Ioannidis was a major whiff - considering how much they hyped him for a 5th rounder. But, he looked so bad, that they should have no problem getting him on the taxi squad - if they even want to.

And Paea simply wasn't very good. To me, Jenkins was the one cut I question. Supposedly, he stepped in and played well. I'm not sure what they continue to see in Golston. I might have even kept Jenkins over a couple of others on the front 7. Run defense - particularly up the middle - is still a big questionmark.

I didn't omit the name...I just wouldn't trade Scherf for him. Leonard Williams has done very little to get the accolades he gets...especially when he was beside Muhammed Wilkerson.

I agree that it is fair to wait a bit before evaluating a DL draft class, but why are people so quick to evaluate our draft class and call it a failure. I have seen far more Cravens than I have any of the DL we could have drafted in the first or second.

Who are the great players on the Redskins roster that they wouldn't start ahead of? Hood, RJF?? YOu cant honestly tell me that you wouldnt have taken most of the first or second round D-lineman over what we are fielding this year??
