I think it's telling that the catcher didn't exactly hustle toward the mound to try and stop Machado, or that afterward no teammates were really having any back-and-forth on the bench with Ventura.

Except there was context and pitches thrown at each other in the opening series... The opening punch? The opening day starter: Jeff Samardzija. Again- Ventura didn't quite start it, but he does escalate these petty things like a 5 year old.
