I think Irvin has earned a spot at the negotiating table based on his performance this season....

i do believe that 277 PA was before this last game, so 283 now.

This is for the NFC? Because Cincy is at #1 for PA at 17.5 Seattle sits at #3 with 18.1.

No, Total NFL. I updated the totals that ESPN hasn't done yet.

Seattle leads the NFL in PA for the 4th consecutive year. Amazing. Historical.

the D did a good job to bad they stunk it up in 4 games in the 4th Quarter or this team would be 14-2 and home field through out ( Panthers would have/should have lost to us if the damn D could have covered a TE in that game in the final seconds )

I'll take the loss to GB and The last one to the Rams as the Hawks never even had the lead in that one. Still the avg. margin in our L's this season was only 5.5 points. Just the fact the Hawks went 5-3 at home this year stings A LOT with me. Thank GOD they went 5-3 on the road.

Yes, the defense has been great this year. I know that early on people were concerned that it didn't look like it had in years past, but they've been in the top 5 all year, and everything worked out for them to once again be #1. So, the Hawks are now the first team since the 1953-1957 Cleveland Browns to lead the league in scoring for 4 consecutive seasons.

I would trade that in every year for home field advantage through out the playoffs. Just say'in. It's nice and all because people will now look at this Defense as one of the top defenses of all time but i would take HFA over that in the playoffs. Wouldn't you?

As good as the defense has been the past 4 years they hurt this team early in the season against the Rams, Panthers, Bengals and Cards. All those games in my Eyes should have been wins and very EASILY could have been if the D could have made 1 freaking stop in regulation late in those games.

I wasn't a huge fan until this year but he's really carved out a place for himself on this defense.

It was the meltdowns we had early in the year that raised eyebrows. They gave away games. Kam holdout and the new DC definitely was a big reason for that.

The amount of growth from Irvin at OLB every year has been great. I was not to shocked they didn't extend him because of the cap issues they had, Next season with the raise in cap it will allow them to extend a few players and some others will be gone ( Mebane more than likely and Lynch retires? ) I see no reason to not pay Irvin close to Wright type numbers ( 6 mill a year ) He is like the new Peterson on this team. Solid LB and a Great Pass rusher when he puts his hand in the ground. Lets not forget he is also the fastest LB on this team.

Seattle has had great success with home field advantage (3 for 3), but it's not like we didn't have defenses every year to back those up. I'm just as happy with this #1 ranking as I have been the last 3. Seattle can be very dangerous on the road (5-3 this year, including wins in the last 5) and there is no reason to think that the defense won't be able to handle the situation.

Seattle's defense is allowing 15.3 points a game on the road this season (19.4 at home). They have allowed only 6.8 points the last 5 road games. Today's win against the #1 offense that was intent on winning the game for their own chance at the #1 seed gave me great hope for their ability in the playoffs. I'm not sure we need the #1 seed to make it back. If they play the way we've been seeing them play, I'm not sure there's a team that can beat them - no matter what field they play on.
