Should've kicked Farrell to the FO and given the job to Lovullo after the '15 season. Avoid the PR nightmare of firing a guy with cancer and keep the obvious superior replacement (better results with the same roster then, better results with an inferior roster now).

He's mediocre at best but his bosses seem to be happy with him so he's not going anywhere.

Farrell: "Umm hey Chris, your pitch count is a bit high, I think maybe I should pull you"
Sale: "Fuck you John, I'm going another inning"
Farrell: "Oh okay sorry to bother you"
