Anyone else see the blurb about R. Mostert requesting a trade?
Last I heard they were talking extension for him, now this. Did they not budge on paying him a little extra and now he is giving them the finger? Might be nothing, might turn into something.
Nope nothing.

Raheem Mostert requested a trade from the 49ers.
It's one of the only leverage points he has over the 49ers right now as he looks to increase his salary up from $3 million. Mostert was the most efficient back in San Francisco last season and ultimately took over playoff games during the 49ers' Super Bowl run. His agent, Brett Tessler, notes that Mostert's contract was negotiated when he was just a core special teamer, not when he was entrenched as the 49ers' Week 1 projected starter. A trade is possible, but it would make sense for both parties to reach an agreement on a slight pay bump before the season begins. Mostert is only seeking Tevin Coleman money ($4.5M). It seems helpful to be a running back in Kyle Shanahan's scheme, but what do we know. If Mostert is ultimately traded, Coleman's average draft position (RB43) would be a complete smash for fantasy football. It's also worth noting Jerick McKinnon (ACL) has yet to resume cutting.

Bad thing about that Shanny system...virtually any "one cut and go" style RB can succeed in the system (Mostert himself being a supreme example), so they don't really NEED to pay anyone. You want more? C-ya later!!

The good thing? If you do well enough, some other dumbass team might be willing to overpay you to come on board as a free agent.

He's looking for Coleman money. After the way he played last year, that's not unfair. And what other RB has succeeded in the system? Breida? Then why did they trade him?

How far back you wanna go? Every back from Denver from like '95 to 2000-something, Every back in Houston starting with Slaton and ending when Kubs went to Denver, then Denver backs again for a little bit again, then Shanny Jr in Atlanta and now SF. The same old Alex Gibbs system throughout the whole thing..made careers for Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, Steve Slaton, and yes, perhaps Brieda (we'll see if he welts outside the Shanny sun this season or not) and who knows how many other backs who otherwise would've never been known for anything..including Mostert who was nothing but a special teams ace for 5 different teams in 3+ seasons before Shanny came..and even a full season after.

Is it a fair ask? Sure it is. But they know damned good and well they don't have to pay it too

They don’t have to pay him, but the amount seems sort of minor. Think they will come to a agreement of some sort.

Entirely possible, they sure didn't need to give McKinnon his outrageous contract, nor Coleman's. Question is, have they been burnt enough paying RB's? Or are they willing to keep going? Plenty of good looking '21 rooks comin' up...And as previously mentioned, theres still Jeff Wilson, who all he did is score touchdowns dang near every time he touched the ball last year

:). Shanny Jr.'s system, is by and large, the exact same system his daddy used, same one Kubiak used..all created by Alex Gibbs...to generate 1000 yards rushers from danged near anyone they drug off the street. Its not just Kyle and his couple years in SF and ATL, its the entire tree, starting with Mike Shanny and Alex Gibbs. Thats where I was going with it

Man, keep the punches above the belt. Low blow. :)
But, Ball was actually a "product" of John Fox, who didn't run the Gibbs style zone blocking :suds:

Well not EVERY chunk of coal can be turned into a diamond, but by and large, that system churns out 1k yard rushers better than any others. For every "should've been" like that theres two Olandis Gary's or Steve Slaton's, or Alf Morris's, or Mike Anderson's, or Tatum Bell's
