Not a great look after rehab. Coupled with that incident with his girlfriend... and I get the feeling he's been straight-up lying to the coaches and GM and the video exposed him. That would explain it.

Thing is, I don't think he really cares what they think. Doesn't need the money. Seems to me he just wants to play football and party. Not the worst thing in the world.

Well, they can't risk him running afoul of Lord Goodell of Overreach. A drinking problem can get you suspended just like weed can. I figure you have to invest in your franchise QB - building the offense around his skill set, giving him the first-team reps, developing chemistry and rhythm with the playmakers. You can't do that with somebody who looks like they won't do the basics to stay in the league.

Maybe they can resuscitate the XFL. He'd be awesome.

Haha, didn't they used to say something about putting the fun back in football? Maybe they were onto something.

"Chiefs RB Charcandrick West, listed as Q w/ hamstring, will not play vs. Buffalo, per source. TE Travis Kelce, also Q with ankle, will play."

There have been conflicting reports on Charcandrick West's status for Sunday's game against the Bills.:suds:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Chiefs had already ruled him out while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said West's hamstring is "rapidly improving" and that Kansas City considers him a game-time decision. Either way, it looks like West is on the doubtful side of questionable. Spencer Ware got all the first-team reps at practice this week and will get the start when and if West is officially ruled out.

Back to the gameplans that led to Brees throwing for NFL records again. Start Cooks, Coleman, Watson, hell Colston might even be a decent desperation play

I cant believe the Bucs fired Lovie Smith. That makes no sense. They have zero continuity

Weird yes. Rookie QB who improved as the season went. Lavante(sp?) David isn't too happy either. Continuity was his reasons.

Very strange.

It was also weird when the Bears axed him after a 10-6 season with the Bears. Remember when the Bears had winning seasons?

Maybe he's high maintenance?

still wish the Rams wouldve made Lovie the HC and left Martz as the OC.
That team would've had some staying power with a sane individual at the helm.

F you Dick Vermeil.
Goes to show you can't let a guy who's "retiring" pick their successor.

I don't want to pretend that I know everything about the Bears. Or Lovie. But here's my take:
  • Lovie is a numbers guy. He preaches speed and turnovers. When it works, the defense looks stout and you win games. When it doesn't work, yardage is lost in chunks. Players might be quick, but small.
  • I also felt that Lovie was stubborn. Because his system was successful, I got the impression that he believed that games were won (or lost) solely by the defense. If the offense was important to Lovie, it didn't seem like he was trying to improve on it.
  • Also felt that Lovie was a poor judge of talent. Maybe the draft picks fall more to Jerry Angelo, but many didn't pan out. And studs Urlacher, Briggs and Tillman were aging, with no depth behind them - Not good for a coach with 8 years on the same team. Coaches and assistants were also a revolving door train wreck (Except for Dave Toub.)
I appreciate what Lovie did. The D was exciting to watch. (So was Hester.) He gave the Bears some respectability. But maybe the Bucs realized all of this in 2 years, instead of the 8 it took the Bears' brass.
