Bernier's value has to be increased to get fair market value. If he is indeed a #1 netminder in the NHL, the Kings would do well to play him 25 times this year. Make him look great and then trade him. Right now people are unsure about his abilities. Or at least not sure enough to warrant a few good players or prospects coming back to the Kings. That should not be so after a good 25 games this year. And if he fizzles out, he'll happily come back as backup, I would think. At the very least to prove himself.
I think you just named three capable guys, especially in a defensive-favoring system. Hedman, to me, makes the jump to being "the guy" this year. Carle isn't an elite d-man, but he's definitely a solid top-two guy. Let's not forget Commy 64! Ok, that part was a joke.
Salo's the big question mark, but I think you know better than I do what he adds if he stays healthy.
matt carle is more elite than jay bouwmeester.. (sorry dash).. if you consider jaybo to be elite..

I just found it today i was looking for a mcdonalds sign that I could do the shop but that came up... saved time. I drank an extra beer in lieu
Pronger made Carle look better than he is. That being said he's better than Wideman. As for Jaybo I don't think so. Jaybo gets a lot of crap because of his contract, however Jaybo can be counted on for 25+ minutes per night. He's a very solid defenseman, just not to point producer many thought he would become.

I understand the Blue Jackets have made an offer of the Kings' pick from the Carter deal and Mason / something else for Bernier.
Big rumor is they wanted Bernier in the Carter deal (and were going to give more to get him then) but the Kings were expecting playoffs and were worried about not having the safety net. The deal NEARLY got done at the deadline. Some speculate that the 1st rounder was a "placeholder" for Bernier.
Not sure what "More" entailed.
