Dominik Hasek’s agent, Ritch Winter, told me today his client met face to face w/ Ruff & Regier to discuss his wish to play for the Sabres. Winter said since Buffalo declined, he’s now focusing on other teams. He’s pursuing a multi-year deal for Hasek.

didn't he quit on them once before?

They had a $9 million option on him for 2001-02 that they didn't pick-up, but both parties agreed it was best to trade him before July 1st.

Unless you're talking about the 1997 playoffs, in which case, yes, he quit on the team.

yup, that's what I was referring to.
I kind of hope they met him in person just so they could tell him "fuck off" right to his face.

I think you are joning on me! ;) So here's a little blast from this past from Jagr Watch 2011...

So you guys are saying he's worth a 2 million dollar cap hit? He's been away for awhile. That's a lot of money for a ?

Granted the main pieces were already in place before he got the job. I don't think Jagr is worth 2 million. If another team gives him more then it's their mistake.

So, i think it was shown he was worth more than $2 million, if only someone had said so...

Yeah, if the amount is under $3 million, I don't think there is anything terrible about this scenario for the Pens. Given his recent NHL/KHL numbers, I'd figure Jagr is good for 18-25 goals and 25-35 assists. Good luck finding that for under $3 million.

Jagr had 19 goals and 35 assists. BOOM goes the dynamite! ;)

they should have "offered" him a 2 year deal and to meet him in Buffalo to sign. then not shown up. I dont think one player would care

If I didn't like my Buffalo compadres on here so much, I would also suggest that they firmly plant a foot in his crease.

Bernier tells @TVASports he expects to be traded close to training camp, "preferably close to home". More details to come.

he is from Laval Quebec and montreal has Price so if he's going anywhere close its Toronto.

Bernier isn’t going anywhere this year unless some team makes an offer the Kings can’t refuse. I fully expect him to get a lot more starts next season, not just to rest Quick more but also give him an opportunity. Last year, it was a 69/13 split for Quick. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 56/26 split if Bernier can play moderately well.

There are a few teams that could us him, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a few trade offers. Quick was just extended, so I assume that he would want that to happen too. He's a great young netminder that , to me, is good enough to contender for a starting role.

I think it was Lebrun I heard yesterday on the radio say the GM of a team he says is currently "unsettled" in goal (*cough* Leafs *cough*) told him that he sees Bernier as being what equates to 1.5 years behind the development trail of Corey Schneider

Hawaii5.0 has it right I think ... Bernier should bide his time ... be patient and play some more games this coming year with the Kings and get those career save% and gaa numbers down ... i think asking for a trade at this point could be career suicide for Bernier

It depends. I think he'd be a good fit for a Chicago or a Tampa Bay. Somewhere that doesn't have to ask as much right away, but a place where he could play his way into the top spot. That won't happen in LA.

They've made some good mid-range moves, which is really what they needed. I think the biggest gap is in net, so hopefully Lindback develops quick enough to fill that void.

I think the void is bigger on d which could make Lindback look really bad ... Matt Carle is your #1 dman? Ohlund is retiring? ... Salo can play more than 60 plus games? Hedman will be better but after that ... what is there?

I think you just named three capable guys, especially in a defensive-favoring system. Hedman, to me, makes the jump to being "the guy" this year. Carle isn't an elite d-man, but he's definitely a solid top-two guy. Let's not forget Commy 64! Ok, that part was a joke.

Salo's the big question mark, but I think you know better than I do what he adds if he stays healthy.

Bernier's value has to be increased to get fair market value. If he is indeed a #1 netminder in the NHL, the Kings would do well to play him 25 times this year. Make him look great and then trade him. Right now people are unsure about his abilities. Or at least not sure enough to warrant a few good players or prospects coming back to the Kings. That should not be so after a good 25 games this year. And if he fizzles out, he'll happily come back as backup, I would think. At the very least to prove himself.
