So which team will give Mueller a chance?
OK... but what do you think about the other two options I mentioned in the sentence you partially quoted? KHL or long term deal to a non contending team... can you see detroit, pitt, phil, was, van, any power house team giving him a deal with money more than 6.7 mil and longer than 5 yrs? IMO if he wants to go to one of those teams, he'll make 5-7 mil for 2-3 yrs? One team may go as high as 3 yrs 21 mil.
Regarding the 3-year, $30-million offer from Russia that's been reported: It is false on both the term and the money. I was told CSKA reps met with Semin's agent Mark Gandler in the U.S. and offered a 2-year deal worth "almost exactly what he was making in Washington."
I didn't say he had to make 6.7 (though with a 1 or 2 year deal, I'd guess he would), just that he'll make much more than 4 or 5 if it's a short term deal (and much more than that even on a longer deal). And yes, I could see a number of contenders being interested in him. There are a bunch of teams that have the room and could use a legit goal scorer. As for the KHL, as I said before, they don't have as much money as is always rumored. Per Puck Daddy...
And by "almost exactly," let's be clear, his agent means less than what he was making in Washington. Because KHL teams spend half what NHL teams do.
So, I think anything is a possibility for Semin....except a contract that pays $5mil a year or less.
He's not worth that kind of money. If he gets more than 4 million the team signing him overpaid.
If he's worth so much, then why haven't the Caps resigned him?
Because we have one Alex too many that is good at scoring goals and doesn't like to play defense.
We also don't have as much cap room as some other teams. And even though we could afford him now, it would mean losing quality young players over the next 2-3 years like Alzner, Carlson, our goalies, etc.
Because you have to have balance in your spending and we have two huge long-term deals with Backstrom and OV now.
Because he isn't interested in a short term deal with us, and since he is a long-time employee, I can understand his frustration, even if he annoys me.

That's crazy and isn't what will happen.

I'm hearing that Vlasic was extended by the Sharks 5 years at 4.2 per.

Agreed. I think that we can all put this to rest by agreeing that he will be overpayed.
FREE AGENCY IS OFFICIALLY BORING NOW, TIME TO START THE SEASON AGAIN.
funny. Dan Ellis sending e-mails to the media with resume attached.
I'd make great backup for Canucks' Cory Schneider, says UFA Dan Ellis
