Semin is not nearly as bad as he is being made out to be. He is a dynamic player. He plays stupid sometimes and usually takes a bad penalty every 2 or 3 games but he is still an explosive player with size and potentially the best shot in the game. He is really comparable to Kovalev, IMO.

At this point, I would like to see Washington get back involved with him.

Semin is better defensively than many think as well. Believe it or not he actually backchecks. Over the last 4 years Semin is +90 something. Since my team is done for the Summer I'll be cheering for the rest of you to get the guys you want.

Caps sign Ryan Stoa. A 25 YO former top prospect for the Avs. A power forward with a little skill, but heavy feet.

My only worry with Semin is attitude/penalties taken. That said, guys play hard under Blysma. I just don't know if Shero would take this risk. A big part of me wants him to. That's a high reward situation. Dupuis-Crosby-Semin; Kunitz-Malkin-Neal. Those are fantastic lines.

And god knows there's nothing else out there to use cap space on...

Give up Depres & a couple of other pieces to Anaheim for Ryan. There's Crosby's winger. Offseason over. Go win the Cup.

Exaccccttttly. Obviously the preference would be to get a solid top 2 D, shutdown type guy...but there's not one of those on the market.

I'd prefer Ryan to Semin in general, but you don't have to give up prospects with one. And I think ANA wants a second line C in return, and amazingly, we don't have a lot of those lying around now. Regardless, I just hope Shero makes some move this summer...the current roster isn't enough for what the team wants to accomplish.

Apparently Lebrun said the Pens might have to keep Martin, that can't be good for the defense or Fleury.

I'm fine with giving the guy another chance. Not sure who his D partner will be now. The Pens do have 8D though, and none are waiver wire eligible. Martin's first year in Pitt was really good, so I know he can succeed. And he's Neal's BFF...so...let's not upset Neal. :)

Now a rumor hits the late night twitterverse involving the Pens and a 1 year deal for Semin. Seems a bit murky to say the least though. Apparently the origins were NHLHomeIce, but no one seems to know more than that? I think it's a bit on the doubtful side, but I'd approve of it.

There was also talk that Semin had signed a deal worth $10M a year in the KHL. I think both are just as likely.

His agent said they weren't pursuing KHL stuff...and the Russian NHL guys seemed to think he'd be staying here as well. I dunno, I get the feeling whoever signs him will be in for a pleasant surprise. I think a change of scenery will motivate him. I think he's sick of people saying he's just another lazy Russian.

Gandler is his agent. Same agent Yashin had. Wherever he ends up I won't be surprised.

I'm starting to feel like the Nash/Ryan talk is being held up by Alex Semin. I really thought that we'd have more activity at this point.

I hope Alex Semin doesn't end up on the Pens, that would be awful. I don't think that the change of scenery is the issue though. Semin is a flawed individual, and you are correct, he's not just another lazy Russian, he's far more lazy and enigmatic and inexplicable than even your most puzzling Russian player. Also, I'm a shade offended... fuck the notion that Pittsburgh does everything so right that all they need to do is show Semin the right way to do things and he'll be great. I like the Pens' fans on here, but FUCK that attitude. Last I checked, both teams have only won two playoff series the last 3 years.

On a lighter note, the fake Alex Semin on Twitter is hilarious. A few nuggets from today...

-It's 4:30 am. I'm at Kettler for the start of ‪#CapsDevCamp‬. Is 1st rd draft pick Forsberg here this early? Didn't think so. ‪#SashaCares‬

-Is that a sex position? MT @Lan17dry I hope the Semin talk is a rumor. He's doesn't fit the Penguin style.
