One thing to keep in mind is the difference between the two teams defense corps. To be honest this is the way the Oilers do business. They gave Hemsky 2 years 10M. Look at the Horcoff contract. Penner worked out great didn't he? LOL

Edmonton's brass almost had the right idea....however, the (few) cute reporters up there need to get impregnated by the NON-married Oilers in order to try and get their stars to stay.....:heh:

Or they can just overpay a shit load and offer boat-loads of ice time. :D

eloco will be happy:

The Washington Capitals have re-signed center Mathieu Perreault to a two-year extension, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Perreault, 24, set career highs in goals (16), assists (14), points (30), games played (64) and plus/minus (+9) in 2011-12. He finished first on Washington in shooting percentage (26.7%) and tied for fourth on the team with four game-winning goals. His 30 points ranked 10th on the team while he finished tied for fifth in goals and tied for fourth in plus/minus. Perreault tallied his first career NHL hat trick on Jan. 24 vs. Boston and made his NHL playoff debut against the Bruins, appearing in four postseason games with the Capitals in 2012

They also resigned Beagle to a 3-year deal. MP85's deal is at 1.05 per year and Beagle's is at .9 per.

I think he does. My gut says that he's testing FA to up his value with the Yotes. I don't think that he'll want to move at this point in his career.

I don't think Doan cares one bit about raising his value. He knows if he opens things up for every team in the league he'll get a good contract. This is about whether or not the Coyotes can get a new owner & stay in Phoenix. If Doan doesn't believe things are going to work he's leaving town.

Doan is only "testing" FA until Monday. If the Yotes are staying, he's staying. I don't think money is an issue at all. I'd *gulp* like him on the Pens. I don't like HIM personally, but he's a good dude that would add a great dynamic to many teams.

I hate myself for considering the thought of Alex Semin as a Penguin.

Jim Rutherfords goal for months now, stated public and emphatically, is to aquire a top level scoring winger for Eric Staal for the first time ever.
Which is why he was in the Parise sweepstates, and why he was going hard after Nash (except CBJ asked for Skinner, which would NEVER happen, 13-15yr girls would picket his house and never attend anther hockey game. You'd be suprised how vocal and influential hundreds, nay thousands of tween girls can really be)
3 names are permanently off the table here an not even open to discussion... E. Staal, C. Ward, and J. Skinner. CBJ should have realized that. (guess you can add J. Staal to that list now in theory)

so.... he said he is in no hurry, so plans to pursue other trades through the start of the season, and up to the deadline if need be for the right deal to come along (though I personally doubt he will wait til Feb... he WILL make a move of some kind, and most likely a big one, in 2012)

Wonder if he is giving thoughts to Semin??
Thinking maybe the Staal boys will lay some good old fashioned Sod Farm Canadian whoopin' on him to get his head straight?
Just spitballin' here, no rumors of that locally.
If so, he'll wait to see if the price comes down I'm sure.

If he DOEs pursue other trade options... PLEASE let it be a blockbuster, and somehow involve that dude up in NY, #18 I think, names Stall, something like that, can't remember, but I think he would fit in great here.

Semin's agent said he'll be in the NHL. I think whoever offers him term will get him. I'd do 2 years and a decent cap hit for him. Gosh I've gotten desperate. AND DON'T MAKE THE EASY JOKE HERE.

Does anyone have an email address for Shane? I want to send him the Phoenix move thread from here and Howson's phone number.
