thought the Canes got hosed somewhere along the line.

@mnwild

Also, apparently Semin has reached out to the Pens? It'd be the trolliest of all the trolls if he signed. Pens fans and Caps fans heads would explode. I'd probably be okay with it if it's not a long term deal. High reward type of situation. I think he worked a lot harder under Hunter. Maybe the Pens can get Knuble. I love that man.

Knuble is a great guy, but how's he holding up? He's definitely approaching retirement age, I know that, but I haven't watched too many Capital games so I don't know if he's still the power guy he used to be.

He wasn't his usual Penguin killing self this past year, I know that. I'm pretty sure he was a healthy scratch quite a bit too. He's just great at mucking it up in front of the net, and has size. Pens need both. Gah, the Pens need a lot right now. I shouldn't complain, because they're a talented bunch...but there are some big holes.

Come on TSN, I want to see you rip on this overpayment like you did on the Wideman signing by the Flames. Of course you won't because the Oil are your favourites because of the 'Oil Change' series.

They are planning to trade Heatley to Columbus for Mason?

Laugh all you want. I'd take it. Headcase for headcase. At least the Jackets would get a headcase that is friends with the cap'n.

Seems like coilers thinking on this deal was

"well ... If we pay him like a bonafide #1 goalie ... He's gonna play like one ... Right? .... Right? ... Anyone?"

Fun with stats:

Last season:

Dubnyk: 47 GP, GA: 118, GAA: 2.67, SA: 1380, SV %: .914

Schneider: 33 GP, GA: 60, GAA: 1.96, SA: 945, SV %: .937

Either Gillis is a shrewd negotiator or Lowebellini are spending like drunken sailors...Both is also an acceptable answer.

In Dubnyk's defense, the last two months of the season he played really well (once the pressure of the playoffs was out of the picture). 3.5 per is rather steep - it should have been 3.5 total for 2 years.

One thing to keep in mind is the difference between the two teams defense corps. To be honest this is the way the Oilers do business. They gave Hemsky 2 years 10M. Look at the Horcoff contract. Penner worked out great didn't he? LOL
