Hard to think, unless some weird, can't pass up package with Parise comes along, that Detroit won't be his landing place.
They have the money to spend, and they want/need him enough to give it to him.

yeah, I'll be a bit surprised really if he doesn't land with the Wings for exactly the two reasons you mentioned...they have the need and they have the money

According to Nick Kypreos, the range on contract offers for Parise (and again, Suter, is 12 years between $80 million and $90 million. :D

if those numbers are close to true, then that's what $6.7 million to $7.5 million per? not a bad cap hit, but the number of years might worry me a bit

This may be one of the worst classes of ufas I've ever seen. And Parisuter seem to be driving everything to a lull. Not expecting too many moves until their destinations are decided

Looks to be the going rate in the shallow but elite free agent pool. I would take Parise at a 7.5 hit. Wasn't his last hit at 6 or so?

damn
glad we signed Corvo today, even though he is really more of a replacement for Spacek.
Allen blocks a lot of shots, thats hard to replace.
Need a stay at home defensive defenseman badly still.

Suter will do, I guess, in a pinch. :D

was expecting that will not be surprised if it drags further

Unfortunate for the fans, but understandable for Parise. 100's of millions have been offered to him today. Probably worth sleeping on it and make the decision tomorrow.

I kinda hate those two right now. I mean, I'd sleep on so I understand...but it was nice that FA day was on the weekend...now it's basically been pushed to Monday.

Zach Parise will wait until Monday to decide where he will play next season.

It appears returning to the Devils is still an option for Parise, but the 27-year-old left wing fielded a host of offers today from teams as an unrestricted free agent. Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Carolina, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal were among the teams to make bids.

Reports have some of the offers reach 13 years and exceeding $100 million in total. There were also reports of Parise’s camp asking or a signing bonus of $24 million spread over the first two years of the deal ($12 million for each season).

Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News and Observer reported that Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford was told by Parise’s agent, Wade Arnott, his team was not likely to be on Parise’s “short list” of finalists.

I just left another round of messages for Devils GM Lou Lamoriello, Parise and Arnott.

There hasn’t been a lot of news on goaltender Martin Brodeur today. Chicago, Florida and Toronto are among the teams reported to have expressed interest.

Brodeur’s agent, Pat Brisson, again has not returned messages

I don't get why people sign so fast. Take a day or two, its not like its a limit....well there is, but it's weeks away.

What's frustrating is from here on out it's like musical chairs...except the chairs pick you. Until that music stops and ONE of them chooses where to go, every other GMs hands are tied as far as how to continue on. After that though it's like a rush to find a seat...and everyone will be fighting over the same trades.
