I'm not disputing that there is disparity between white and black coaches in the NFL but Flores seems to have singled out the Broncos in strange fashion. Not only is there documented proof of the depth of his interview in 2019 but the Broncos were moving on from a black coach (Vance Joseph) when it all took place. Prior to a game between the Dolphins and the Broncos, this is what Flores had to say to the Denver media:

Flores in conference call w/Denver media prior to November 2020 Dolphins game vs.Broncos: "That interview was, I remember it vividly. It was just great for me to – just from doing my own background work – learn more about the Denver Broncos and their history.
and the Bowlen family and the great history that they have there as an organization. I was excited to interview with them. I thought it went well. It was just great to meet the executives there and spend some time with them. "I think Vic's a great coach. They've got the right coach and the right people in place. It's a talented team, that's for sure. It was a good experience for me personally."

"Thanks Marie Callender."

Sone crazy lady burned her cake and then blamed the company for it.

Thanks NFL.

Some crazy coach blames the NFL for making a rule that they had to interview him, hut he still didn't get the job.

Listen, Odell Beckham is in the superbowl on a second or third chance. Antonio Bryant won a SB last year, and if he hadn't gone all the way off the reservation, maybe he could have made enough difference for his team to be back this year. He was already on his 5th or 6th chance. Josh Gordan got another chance this year, I'm not good enough at calculus to figure out what number of chances he's on now. Deshaun Watson has had like 30 different female massage therapists claim he did naughty things. Literally everyone knows he's guilty too, or he wouldn't have been a client of 30+ different female massage therapists. Doesn't matter, some team is gonna give up a ton to get the guy on their team next year.

Why? Because these owners will do ANYTHING to win.

But you want me to believe they won't hire a black man to coach?

I'd say the thing I found most bothersome was the lines drawn between qb coach then becoming OC etc and how there are only 3 of 32 qb coaches in the NFL that are black and thus blaming historical racism.

There is no question there was historical racism around the qb position. No question. But when you have the likes of Jalen Hurts as a starting qb despite being a subpar passer I think we've well moved past that.

At some point we've gotta push forward here. Allowing it to happen organically as it has is the best way to do that.

The NFL doesn't have a racism problem it has a nepotism problem.

Flores own coaching staff wasn't even any more diverse than any other coaching staffs around the league. His assistant head coach/special teams coach was a white dude, defensive coordinator white dude, one of the co offensive coordinators white dude, and the QB coach was a white dude.

Hiring isn't based on race but who you know and who you've made connections with. Not that it's not tied to race because it's barely been a generation where black assistant coaches thus they haven't had as much of a chance to break into the "club" like people that have been connected for decades.

Breaking down is nepotism is a slow process that just takes time to break more people into the "club" and given time it will happen.

The NFL could help the process by instead of something like the Rooney rule have things like coaching workshops where they can get minority coaches and other coaches from around the league to mingle, get to know each other, make friendships, talk football, and etc.

Because these guys when they get head coaching jobs basically hire guys they know, know of, and that they can trust. It's just too high stakes of a job to be gambling on guys you don't know all that much about so getting guys to know each other better could help get minorities more jobs as assistants which in turn gets the to start climbing that ladder.

I just think the process is going in the right direction because you have far more black QBs than you ever have had which means down the road they could be QB coaches that could lead to be coordinators and there are more guys in the pool to be head coaches.

It's a good point. Look at the coaches in the Super Bowl. Sean McVay is the grandson of John McVay (former coach and GM). Zac Taylor is the son-in-law of MIke Sherman.... Also played college ball for Bill Calahan. Oh, by the way, Bill's son Brian is the offensive coordinator. It's pretty funny how many staffs are full of former coaches sons.

I can see the nepotism thing to a degree. But lately we have also seen this trend of teams trying to wow everybody with the next McVay. Trying to find that young, offensive mind. Some of it has come from his staff, much like the longer tenured coaches like Reid and Belichick, etc. But we also see some of these F.O.s taking total flyers on a Kliff Kingsbury or the Raiders trying to resurrect the ghost of Jon Gruden (who in my mind was always vastly overrated anyway but that's another discussion), or the Jaguars trying to outsmart everyone only to get their faces covered in egg from the Urban Meyer hiring. The big picture is a convaluted mess with these organizations at times. It's more than just black/white. There's a lot of disfunctional ownership around the league and it trickles down through their system.

Tomlin is the only one so there's that.

Maybe it would be better to look at each of the top candidates on an individual basis instead of putting a blanket over them all. Unfortunately, our society can't do that, it seems. In my humble opinion, which doesn't mean shit btw, this only leads to more discord and more inequity in the long run. By that, I mean we get so hung up on the color of a persons skin, be it pro or con, and don't truly look at the person. I think some of these guys have earned a shot. Leftwich and Bienemy most notably but Todd Bowles should get another shot. Yes, he had one but it was the fucking Jets. Nobody succeeds in that shithole. Vance Joseph? Maybe he is just better suited as a coordinator like Fangio, Quinn, et al. I don't know the answers but maybe a guy like Bienemy interviews and guys come away thinking he sounds like the next Nagy. Or just repeats things they hear from other Andy Reid disciples and it doesn't wow them. There are a lot of questions with very few real answers in all of this. And all anyone can do is speculate.
Do I personally think race plays a factor? Yes, to a certain degree but I don't think players and ex players riling up the idiot masses on twitterverse really helps the situation either.
As for Tomlin being the only one, black yes, minority no. Ron Rivera was and is a minority hire and a good one as well.

lol.....obviously Flores is out to destroy his career. Clear now why he's become a pariah. BB needs to be questioned about his role in this.

1. I am unsure of the whole he will never coach in the NFL again comments. Part of what he is stating is that the Rooney Rule is a facade, which most of us knew all along, I always present it like this. If Belichick were to leave the Pats and the Giants wanted him is it not obvious any other interview is a token interview? Which to me is an embarrassment to the minority coach sitting in that chair.

2. The Donks situation in which they showed up late and potentially hungover is unprofessional and again presents as " We don't really plan to offer you this job".

3. The damming thing to me is if he can prove monies were offered to tank for draft picks. Tankgate?????

4. I would love to have him back as the DC in New England/

It is an issue for sure. As I said, the intention may have been noble but the implimentation is so flawed that this is what it has become. Tokenism to me is just another form of racism that is hidden.
So how do you fix it? Just give the minority the job even though there may be 3 other candidates who is better, more qualified for the position? Also, because a team doesn't want the headache like a Kaepernick or Flores (Kaepernick publicly / Flores internally), why should teams do that? If you hold interviews, but you love the first guy you interview (disregarding color altogether), why should you be forced to interview other candidates potentially causing a time delay and another team swooping in and taking your candidate you really wanted?

but they penalize teams money and picks for not keeping up the charade! Look at Lions, interviewed 1 man that they wanted and hired him. Lost draft picks and cash for not parading a minority into the office for a sham interview! They actually had more respect for minorities by not insulting them and wasting their time when they knew who the wanted

I think Flores is full of shit. If he knew the interview with the Giants was a sham then why did he go and do it?
And now he brings up shot from two years ago against Miami and Denver? Why didn’t he bring that up when those things happened? Why wait til now?

I think the thing that pushed him over the top was all of the leaking from the Dolphins front office trashing him and his reputation. He saw that and probably said “fuck it”. They’re going to do me dirty and leave me out anyway so there’s no longer a reason to bite my tongue.

It's rumored that Flores is difficult. Guess it's true
I won't give you a "bullshit" out of respect the only thing difficult about Flores is the color of his skin.
The fact that he has not been offered a job is an atrocity!

I salute you Brian Flores for your courage and dignity!
