CAPS = as I look through the roster, and see that we replaced Knuble and Semin (and their production, though down last year) with Wolski, Ribeiro and Crabb, I think that the team is going to struggle....a lot. If Backstrom misses any more than a couple games, they are going to have to fight for a playoff spot, IMO. I like the coaching change and roster moves organically but think it is a recipe for disaster in a shortened season with no training camp.

That said, I think we are very good moving forward, but this year could be really really bad.

:(

I'm expecting the Bruins to make it to the Conference Finals. So long as Horton stays healthy and Rask is in 2010 form.

They will play hockey. Perhaps occasionally well. I expect at some point, Nick Foligno will score a ridiculously important goal. The team will, hopefully, acknowledge Ryan Johansen's talent. I expect them to not make the playoffs, probably will be the worst team, and will again not get the first overall.

At some point, Steve Mason will completely lose his mind.

I just hope they can be solvent. Make enough money to defer some losses, and have the team come together. John Davidson said yesterday that there will NOT be a captain, and basically if anyone wants it - prove it. Following on with coach Richards' statement after Carter was dealt. Next offseason is where I expect things to start to happen.

Long story short; remember the scene in Gladiator when they all hid together under their shields when the chariot with the swords came by? This year is going to be like that.

Devils need some guys to step up and replace Parise's production. Hopefully Henrique can get healthy and be that guy, Clarkson, Zubrus, Josefson all need to start chipping in as well. Kovalchuk, Elias and Zajac will have to do the heavy lifting. Even without Parise we still roll 4 solid lines, have plenty of depth on the blue line and have Marty in net so why not ECF and beyond?

The Flames will be consistently inconsistent and keep my dangling all season until they fall two points short of a playoff spot and end up picking 12th-14th in next year's draft.

Prove me wrong boys.

mine are way more than they should be and I will be harder on them this year then I ever have been. I will judge most harshly and complain more loudly and be very happy to do it. I will get on them quicker and without mercy and they will either win the cup or fail miserably to me.

Knuble was already gone last year in terms of lost production. Semin being gone is addition by subtraction and I think will help OV. I think this is a better team, but what that means, no idea. Probably another 2nd round playoff exit.

I think that it is a better team, but I think the culmination of things that I me filmed above combined with a shortened season and no training camp could lead to a bad season this season.

I think this year is built for teams with very little turnover on the roster and behind the bench.

Does losing one of the best defenseman in the history of the league to retirement count as little turnover? :frown:

Man, it's gonna be so weird not seeing a #5 or #96 out there. :pout:

Frankly, if the Wild can just stay freakin' healthy this year & get Parise/Suter/Granlund comfortably folded into the flow of things, I'll be happy.

Of course, an 8th or 7th seed in the playoffs wouldn't upset me too much either.

being a canucks fan I can say Im happy about this alot. being a true hockey fan its a very sad day. Lidstrom was The Skill of the game wrapped up in a #5 jersey and Holmstrom was just the character these guys will be missed in the game. To me Lidstrom the most I personally think he was the best player in the game for a long time just overall he was the most valuable
