A couple of notes out of this:
Jared Boll needs surgery and has needed it for a while.
Atkinson (ankle), Dubinski (Knee), Erixon (Ankle), and Nikitin (Foot) all came down the stretch hurt.
And not in here, but some are saying that Calvert didn't want to tell the coaches about his hand being broken because he wanted to play.
And that stretch run record, 19-5-5. Wow. Looks nice written out like that.
RFAs are Gillies, Anisimov and Bobrovsky, and I expect both Russian guys to do really well. Gillies is redundant, especially with Jenner coming.
UFAs are Aucoin and Prospal, who will both probably retire. And Comeau and Leighton. I was impressed with Comeau, but not for the money he was making. If he took a pay cut a bit, he's welcome back. He played hard in the role he was brought into. Leighton... Jackets really don''t have any worries if he leaves.
An over-capacity crowd of 19,000 saw the game. This town needed that. Talk all over is from people who weren't really die hard hockey fans before and the energy in the building when JJ scored may have just converted them. This town needed that. A playoff wound or two (two being very unlikely) would have REALLY helped that.
