1 year worth $3.5M. Haven't seen what the guaranteed figure is. Consider me shocked and kind of sick at the same time.

Filed to ESPN: Free agent WR Braylon Edwards and the San Francisco 49ers reached agreement on a 1-year, $3.5 million deal.

I like the signing. I probably wouldn't like it as much if it were a multi-year contract. Strange season with all these 1-yr contracts.

You know I'm a little shocked but he's better than anyone else the team has and if he breaks out and has a huge year they can always franchise him so they can get a little something out of him in return if he wants to walk.

Pozz and Clyde...
Just out of curiosity, do you guys dislike the move because of Braylon's off-the-field behavior or his performance on the field?

Will be interesting to see if this signing helps V.D. , Crabtree, Gore with the deep threat and extends the windows! :bolt

Do you not like Edwards? or do you think it's too much?

First, he's one of the hardest athletes to listen and to root for in sports in my opinion. Since college, his maturity level, or flat out immaturity, has been a concern. He's not going to be everyone's cup of tea if you ask me.

Secondly, I've never been as sold on him as a receiver as many have. However, from a physical standpoint he does seem to fit what all the Bay Area reporters said the 49ers have been looking for. I'll give him that much.

Year of the Rabbit... yeah right.

More like, Year of the 1 yr contract.

Good signing though, I like it. Having a WR that defensive coordinators actually respect should do good things for the rest of the offense. Here is to hoping that Herr Fuhrer doesn't suspend him for too long.

So much for no FA activity. I don't love Edwards. Lots of off-field and some on-field drama with him. But there's no denying his physical talent, and he should be a pretty good fit in the system we're looking to run. Hopefully he gets his act together.

So how many former top-10 picks can we accrue here? We've got to be near the top of the league in that category. If only they didn't trade Carr....

2005(1): Alex Smith
2005(3): Braylon Edwards
2006(6): Vernon Davis
2011(7): Aldon Smith
2005(9): Carlos Rogers
2007(9): Ted Ginn Jr.
2009(10): Michael Crabtree

That's fully 1/8 of our active roster drafted in the first ten picks. Crazy.

From Evan Silva on twitter:

So #Jets went with 34-year-old Plaxico Burress for just $483k less than the #49ers paid 28-year-old Braylon Edwards. Plax already hurt.
