An emotional day for me personally now that Edgar’s legacy will be cemented in Cooperstown.

My family migrated to the U.S. when I was 7 years old and was 10 in 1995 and was extremely lucky to have witnessed “The Double.” Baseball was very foreign to me and I fell in love with this team through Griffey and Edgar at a young age. I’m 34 now and feel even luckier to have witnessed this man played his entire career with the M’s. Can’t really name a more deserving person.

How fitting is it for Edgar to be elected into the Hall along with the 3 pitchers that he pretty much owned through out his career.

Gar is the most humble, down to earth, squared away ball player I've ever seen. He so deserved finally getting in the Hall- talk about a stud!!

Dang... Edgar a lifetime .579 BA against Mariano Rivera is pretty dang impressive...

The one guy Mo can’t get out. Granted, the other 2 pitchers elected alongside Edgar had problems getting him out too!

It's about damned time. Should have came years ago, but it's finally done!

I went to many games a year back then. I was at his final game and the tribute game the next season. So many memories.

And really you couldn't ask for a better example and team ambassador than Edgar.

Edgar had to be the one to historically establish the DH as HOF eligible. It took a while because baseball is very conservative*. Now that the gate is opened I have no problem with Ortiz going in soon.






* Took them over 150 years to get to replay and overturning calls.

But I have always thought that is total bunk. There have been DH’s all the way back to Ted Williams. Being a great hitter while being a terrible fielder isn’t any better than being a great hitter while not hurting your team in the field. Edgar was actually an above average fielder until he got hurt. I just think it is dumb that he was being punished for being a great team player (allowing Blowers to play 3B) and that he played for a shitty organization that kept him down in the minors for 3 extra years because Bradley was a fan favorite.

Something I found out today through all the coverage was Edgar was born in NY. I never knew that, all I’ve ever heard about him is the Puerto Rico stuff.

And this is the beautiful with baseball, it is really the most inclusive sport and any nationality or race you can find a player and follow him if you aren’t into a specific team.

Well my thought was always the DH was opposite of my mini career or the players I knew. I was really good and they were really good defensively but sucked donkey nuts offensively. Had I only got to bat and did my thing I would’ve felt worthless and it would’ve screwed with my mind. To me going 0-4 in one day would equate to essentially every time Bobby Ayala tried closing, except as a DH you have to bounce back instantly compared to going through an offensive slump but still contributing defensively. I may be wrong I just think no one gives credit to the mental toll I think it would take to do that. I have admitted I may be in the minority I just think people or fans just think being a DH is the easiest position in baseball. But I am a massive homer for Edgar so there’s that too.

Not to be Debbie Downer or anything but the bittersweep flip side of Edgar's induction is the opportunity missed in the 1996 and 1997 seasons. Consider:
The team had three HOFers (Junior, RJ, Edgar).
A guy who has the stats of a HOF but may get overlooked because of steroids (Arod).
A guy who is 35th on the career wins list and only had one career win less than newly inducted HOFer Mike Mussina (Jamie Moyer).
An allstar RFer who finished in the top 20 in the MVP in both 1996 and 1997 (Buhner).
One of the better managers of the post war era (Piniella).
