Chris Carpenter is too injury prone anyway

Other than his 2 very major injuries the guy has actually pitched a ton of games and innings. He is actually a workhorse. I am never concerned about him at all.

And to the other post, yes both Carpenter and Wainwright are legit aces. Carpenter actually pitched extremely well this season but some extenuating circumstances ruined his statistics. By his standards he had a very poor year pitching 237 innings with a 3.45 ERA and really he had 5 bad games 3 of which he gave up 6, 6 and 8 earned runs. A total ERA killer.

Thing is, the Cardinal defense is absolutely atrocious and Franklin and company blew 5 or 6 games where he had the lead and turned it over to the pen and where they lost it in the 9th. Carpenter could easily be sitting there with 17 or 18 victories this season if he got the breaks.

Wainwright is a total beast. He is easily one of best pitchers in the majors. He'll bounce back from the injury that sidelined him this season and he'll be beasting next season for the Cards. Also, I thought that the Cards and Carpenter already worked out a deal that brings him back. Worth EVERY penny they spend. Wainwright, Carpenter, Lohse, Jackson and Miller will be a dynamite rotation next season. Might be going with Lynn. Don't know what their plans are yet.
