Yeah, trade him and keep Fultz.

I bet the Knicks would give them Melo without a second thought.

Butler or George....nope.

I think they are getting Hayward, which is another reason I think they will trade the pick for Butler.

Thomas, Butler, Hayward, Crowder and Horford....not bad.

If not Hayward, Ibaka.

Butler and Hayward play the same position. Incidently, so does Crowder.

Expect the Celtics to either draft Fultz or effort trading down to acquire additional lottery picks and grab some size later in the lottery.

Only way Melo is in Boston is if Porzingis is coming with him.

So. Melo isn't coming to Boston.
Yay...look, a new alter.

But, you are probably right.

Funny you should mention Zinger since his agents meeting with Phil went badly.

I would try to trade IT though unless you insist on bringing him back in 2018 when he hits the free agent market when he will be 29 approaching 30

Just crazy that Thomas is both the guy that did what he did to Washington in game 2 and then did what he did the rest of the playoffs.

Butler and Hayward can play the 2.

Crowder is a bench player...imo

Great defender. But, I don't think he's a starter unless he's surrounded with offensive guys.

Ps. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Green or Crowder start at pf this playoff series?

Just a matter of looking across the landscape of the NBA, what players would legitimately be available via trade balanced against what value Ainge would look to receive for the pick.

There really are not a lot of trade scenarios that feel viable.

Butler isn't a good enough shooter to play the 2. And putting 6'8 Hayward at off-guard doesn't make a lot of sense.

I can see one or the other coming to Boston (much more likely Hayward) but not both.

Yeah...I see your point.

But, if a Butler or George is available, you go for it.

But, I get that it's not the same as the Cavs trading Wiggins for Love because there isn't a LeBron on that Roster.

take a lesson from Richard Jefferson-

Beal and the Wizards lost Game 7 of their second-round series against Celtics on Monday. As you can imagine, the Cavaliers didn't think highly of his comments. Cleveland forward Richard Jefferson called Washington a "very good team," but strongly said that he was out of line.

"It seems like the teams that are at home now want to start talking," Jefferson said. "Dion Waiters was saying that nobody wanted to see the Miami Heat, nobody wants to see the Miami Heat. Then Bradley Beal says nobody wants to [see the Wizards]. Well, if no one does, then show up. If you get there, then prove it.

Jefferson lol.
Hes just as much a spectator as the teams hes talking about.
Anyway, you ready to bet yet?

As far as my comment, its much different then Beal's, but hes a Gator so
what would you expect?

He's not worth it, but if the Celtics trade the #1 for a win now player, they'll give Thomas max money.
Yeah, that's tough.

Puts them in the same boat as the Clippers and Raptors.

I wouldn't want to pay Lowry or Blake.

But, if you don't, who are you going to get that's better?

I see your point.

Giving IT a max is at the same level of stupid as giving Horford one.

I see Ibaka in their future.

He can give them a bit of the Rim protection they are lacking with Horford.

Well, if you are new, welcome :suds:.

Gotta take the kiddies out for a swim so I can be back in time to watch the beginning of this Celtics massacre.

Enjoy the swim and the game. I expect tonight's game to be fun.

to an extent - i dont understand the unwillingness to pay these guys----

i mean- this is the same thing as a 17-18 M dollar deal a few years ago.....its all relative....there just arent 30 super stars in the league--- but there are well over 30 max slots in the nba payroll system.

thomas will get max money some where- he was just 2nd team all nba- even if its from some team that cant get any other max free agent that is actually worth it--- ya gotta pay some one

i mean you tellin me the nets wouldnt offeer a multitude of guys a max that really dont desrve it? otto porter jr. exhibit 1. theyd be thrilled to get thomas at max money.

Exactly. The Celtics need size and a 3 that can score.

Butler, George, Hayward, I could see any of them in play. Though I don't see Ainge giving up the #1 for any of them.

Lot of options. None feel like slam dunks.

Not sure you understand how the NBA works.

Meaning what?
Are you watching whats going on?
Unless you are willing to pay unlimited luxury tax down the road, which im guessing isnt the case, then you are putting yourself in a postion to only fail if you have +/- 60M/year tied up in Horford/IT.

There are stupid moves made every summer.
Your scenarios are just more possible examples.

Celts should go for Hayward #1, Butler #2 but do everything and anything they can to get both.
George seems hell bent on L.A..
