Aren't predetermined and fixed the same thing? I think influence is the better word. No doubt that the referees in the NBA can influence the direction of a game more so than in other sports. The players still have to make baskets though.

This is why they need a rule change.
No player should ever be forced out a game because of foul trouble.

It should be that from the 6th, the opposing team gets 2 shots and the ball.

This, when I say predetermined I am mostly thinking about playoff series and NBA champs etc and mean it more in a way that the league would be doing it. A game being "fixed" or "influenced" I associate with refs sending messages (AI or even when LBJ elbowed Hibbert), gambling enterprises fixing a game or even the league extending a series for the sake of ratings or what ever other reasons they have.

I never clarified any of that but it was in my head.

I don't think the games r fixed but I do believe that the refs favor teams down in the series. the thunder shooting 20 fts to 0 in the 3rd quarter of game 3 against the spurs was hilarious

The fact that the Thunder were driving to the hoop like crazy and forcing the action while the Spurs were settling for jump shots had a heck of a lot more do with it than the refs favoring anyone.

In basketball, rule #1 is "Don't foul a jump shooter". Most teams are happy to let the opponent shoot jumpers all game. You get to the free throw line by being aggressive, driving to the hoop and forcing the action. That's exactly what the Thunder did in games 3 and 4.

This was something that I can remember the late, great Chick Hearn saying needs to be done back in the 70's. He always maintained that having players disqualified from the game for something other than 2 techs, fighting, stuff like that, takes away from the game because people want the game decided by the best players being in the game.

I like that idea but it would take some coaching strategy out of it.

Or FT and the ball or 3 FTs. I do think they have to change this rule.

Overall good idea
