That said, that was a gutsy challenge by Sullivan risking his timeout this early in the game.

When you can track down Sidney Crosby from behind, that's some damn fine skating., It doesn't hurt to have an 11 foot long stick either.

And then he used one hand to push Malkin behind the net and away from the play right after that.

I mean, it's impossible to miss how good he is. But that series of shifts was just striking. Damn.

Malkin just got suckered into retaliation. PP Bolts.

Anton Stralman gets two minutes because of a shitty Pens pass.

aaaaaaand Hedman shoots it our behind the Pens net from his zone 5 on 3.

Kessel scores.

There you go Pens. There's your game plan. Play with two more players.

Huh? Is that sarcasm or something? I understand wanting to go for the perfectly timed hit, but if the guy doesn't touch the puck, it's interference.

I got no problem with that. We took three straight delay of game penalties to let the Caps back into Game 6, I don't mind a bit of that coming back our way.

That said, that was a gutsy challenge by Sullivan risking his timeout this early in the game.

I was pretty surprised. And the angle I saw on TV wasn't super conclusive, but they never showed the blue line one.

I do agree it's a stupid rule. And there are incredible flaws, especially late in a one goal game. For example, if the defending team believes with 100% that the play is offside, it's best to keep the puck in their own zone for as long as possible, before clearing: if the they clear, they've wasted time, if the other team scores, they get a do over. Any rule that is so unfairly exploitable isn't a good rule at all.

If that pass isn't behind him, that is the hit of the playoffs. No way for Stralman to pull up when the pass went bad. By rule, yes, interference. But only because of the terrible pass.

I haven't seen the rule used yet where it's a clear "how did the linesman miss that?". It's always been a 9/10ths of the guy is on the right side of the blue line but his back skate is up (you know, because he's skating) so no goal. This one was probably the worst I've seen so far. Drouin was literally standing still, his one skate was the only part of his body offside and he was rocking forward to join the play, so his foot was up. It was three feet to the correct side of the line, but it was an inch off the ice.

The offside rule is stupid but with that said you can't blame any team for disputing a call.

Crosby took full advantage of some Tampa Bay lampposts on that goal.

Then he shouldn't have committed to hitting a player that didn't have the puck? :noidea: By rule, yes, interference. Because, like, hitting a guy without the puck is the definition of interference... as far as I know there's no caveat in the rulebook about the incoming pass.
