You know what, the Devils deserve it for not tanking. They could have had the 1st overall wrapped up no problem if they decided to mail it in but were still in the playoff race until late. Fired up for this pick, especially since the Devils don't need a pick of this caliber. They will be at the top of the standings again next year and this pick is a luxury that we have not had in a long time.

For fuck's sake. Sens bumped to #6 when just a month ago they looked like a lock for the top 3.

What's really sad is Murray said their are 5 or 6 guys they really like & they have like some more than others. Now he might not get any of them unless he trades up.

When I saw the Islanders in the 5th spot I thought Ottawa had won the lottery. Who would have thought a team with a 1 or 2 percent chance would win the damn thing.:L

I guess the Devils will keep this 1st round pick & give it up in the next couple drafts.

oh yeah, absolutely.
that was pretty kind of the league giving them a window of 4 yrs to forfeit a pick.

I honestly couldn't believe it. My first thought in terms of the Islanders is we really are a cursed franchise. Do you have any idea who the Devils might take at 4?

Figuring larrson will be gone hoping for a playmaking center but with Lou you never know he's been known to trade down.

I have a feeling Bryan Murray is one unhappy GM right now. He's got plenty of amunition to trade up with as well. I don't see the Devils trading down though. They haven't picked this high in years. Winning the lottery & moving up 5 spots only to trade down would defeat the purpose right?

To you and I no it wouldn't make any sense but with some of the devils decisions over the past two seasons you never know.personally I hope they keep the pick and grab a playmaking center we could use one desperately.

well he's also been known to trade up too so who knows.

i'm really not going to be suprised if we end up with larsson or couturier.

the only ones who i would be suprised with would be hopkins and landeskog, hopkins cause i think the oil is going to take him most likely, and landeskog because well, wtf do we need more wings for?

i agree, they have a relatively solid d, and he'd be a really stable forward them instantly and would probably compliment guys like duchene and mueller (when healthy) well.

im actually thinking larsson is more likely to be there at 4 than i originally thought

It would make sense since they traded Stewart to St. Louis. With the 2nd & 11th picks the Avs can take Larsson or a forward at 2 & take the latter at 11. They have a lot of options.

Center makes the most sense for the Devils. They traded Arnott & Langenbrunner before the deadline. The question is which one?? Huberdeau, Strome or Couturier who can also play wing.

of the centers, i would think its got to be either couturier or huberdeau. and most likely coutourier, he's big, he's the most likely sure thing to play in the nhl, even tho i'm assuming all of them will, and he fits uncle lou's style a bit better than the other 2.

but don't forget, the devils do need a puck moving d man. the best they have coming up the pipeline is merrill and urbom, granted the two are both very good, but urbom is pretty 2 way, and merrill is more offensive than he is but even then, neither are what i'd call bonafide puck movers.

If we didn't have so many wingers I would love landeskog he's going to be one hell of A player. At the beggining of the year when we were dead last I was really big on Larrson but Huberdeau and Couturier have really grown on me.To be honest I would be extremely happy with any 1 of the 3
