And the lead blind man didn't talk much about the punter.

Well....that looks like a wrap. I don't think I've experienced a draft like that for SF. Get the best prospect and biggest position of need, and that sets up the rest of the draft as just icing on the cake. However, it just went downhill for myself starting with the second pick, and by the time they took the punter, I basically checked out.

Sure, any of these players could stand out....and I guess the brass feels the current secondary can hold it's own with another year of experience and an improved pass rush. Hopefully the line holds up and protects the pivot.

We'll see.

We kept the cap under control, Defense should be able to add some wrinkles and the Offense as well with more speed and size! Punter needs to step up:)

They put far to much faith in Ward and Verrett to stay healthy

Can't fix everything in one draft.
I see the top two picks as players who can some right in and help win games.
I see the TE we drfted also being able to step up, but, probably not to the same extent
Better be some punter
Hurd seems much more the developmental prospect
While Dre is a spot duty specialist.
Not expecting anything from the OL.CB

I got a dollar that says Lynch trades a 2020 6th rounder so he can get one in last swing

Especially when you don't address what needs to be fixed. I'll make a judgement on the draft in a few years, but I think it's nonsense to pick a punter when there is a reasonably talented single high FS on the board in CGJ or grab a project in Hurd vs some decent guards that may transition to tackles.

Yup couldn't agree more they wasted value in this draft.

Of they envision Hurd could transition to TE why bother taking Smith?

RD
PICK

TEAM

GRADE
1

2

Nick Bosa EDGE, OHIOST
Height: 6-4, Weight: 266

Love this pick for the Niners. They are building something special on that defensive line. Bottom line is they are going to get after the quarterback. Love this pick. There are concerns about durability, but Nick did the smart thing by checking out early last season.

A

Draft Prospect Outlook

Draft Scouting Report:

Well-built, bendy, explosive, hand-work master who can win a variety of ways when flying around the corner. Sets a strong edge and can disengage from blockers to make plays against the run near the line of scrimmage. Core muscle injury is slightly concerning, but otherwise, he's a polished, instant impact rookie. -- CT

Deebo Samuel WR, SC
Height: 5-11, Weight: 214

I think there were better options here. I think Parris Campbell or even DK Metcalf would have been a better option. This kid just does not run that well and I'm concerned, he's only 5-11.

B-

3

67

Jalen Hurd WR, BAYLOR
Height: 6-5, Weight: 226

Hurd is raw but he has talent. He made the position move from running back to receiver at Baylor, so he's still growing as a player. This was a little high for him, especially after taking another receiver in Round 2.

Mitch Wishnowsky P, UTAH
Height: 6-2, Weight: 218

Punter in Round 4? Wishnowsky was by far the best punter with the biggest leg in this draft, but the value is simply not here early on Day 3.

Dre Greenlaw LB, ARK
Height: 5-11, Weight: 237

Greenlaw fits the mold of how the NFL wants their linebackers today. Smaller, faster, sleeker. He needs to be kept clean to thrive in the NFL but has impressive burst to the football.

C-

6

176

Kaden Smith TE, STNFRD
Height: 6-5, Weight: 255

Smith can be a little clunky with his movements and he's not particularly fast. But he's a huge target, and routinely showcased the strong hands needed to make difficult, contested-catches. Tight end not a huge need for 49ers, but Smith is a good talent.

Justin Skule OL, VANDY
Height: 6-6, Weight: 315

Skule doesn't look like he'd be an effective blocker because he is stiff in his hips and has slow feet. Somehow, he walled off SEC edge rushers relatively often throughout his career.

Tim Harris CB, UVA
Height: 6-2, Weight: 205

Harris crushed his pro day workout, and is another prospect who likely landed this late in the draft because of a lengthy injury history. His speed and size combination are what likely got him drafted.
