I saw some 55 year old guy on one of those Facebook Husker pages write, "I have to admit, I'm really excited about this upcoming season. In fact, I'm Riled up........"

The positive thing is this...............

IF we somehow are undefeated by the time he returns, he is going to be pumped full of energy by that time. Think about how much this is going to kill him. He's going to be ready to burst back on to the scene.

He might come out for Conference play and just kill it.

I hope the best for DPE in his recovery.

I don't mean to hijack this thread guys but here goes. Some of you may know my oldest daughter is a Class A high school head volleyball coach. One of her players, a 3 year starter will not be playing much her senior season as she was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma. The cancer and treatment has taken it's toll on the player so I hope you guys say a prayer for her quick recovery from the illness.

Dang. Thoughts are with her and hers.

I think Chiefs safety Eric Berry just beat it and is back playing pro ball.

here's the deal. DPE was an exciting player, but as others have said, someone needs to step up. on offense i think there are plenty of guys to do that, in particular Turner, DPE was the guy we thought Turner would be and if his injury issues are behind him, hopefully he gets to that.

obviously we lose a dynamic player in the punt return game, but if you look at some of his returns last year, our guys blocked way better in 2014 than 2013, it wasn't solely DPE doing it back there, sure maybe he's the one that gets the TD as opposed to a 20 yd return, but I'd take the 20yd return over the shit show we had there in 2013. We are now paying an ST coach $415k a year to have a decent return game, he should be able to figure out someone to plug in back there and get some return yards.

^^if I may ask, using that logic, why are none of our LBs out for extended time? We have no depth there, Bando and Rose-Ivey are the only guys that anyone knows anything about so you can bet the other 2 or 3 scholly LBs we have are "getting run in to the ground"....

Chuckster, I think the linebacker corps is loaded with young players, I would assume Nebraska is now building the depth in practice - I guess we will see, but I didn't like the way Blo built depth during his tenure. Is there another Lavonte David in the making?

aren't most of our WR injuries more related to hamstrings or bruises? they are much more susceptible to those injuries because of running and being the ones getting tackled at a high speed. Defense is the one laying the hits, so that's why you have guys with shoulder stingers or whatever like that but they also aren't running routes the entire practice to tear up their legs.

Everyone knows why the WR's are plagued with injuries right?

Mike Riley is running them ragged. When they're tired, that's when the injuries happen.

Mike dismissed 3 viable division 1 options at receiver during the offseason so we don't have enough bodies in camp to keep the rotation fresh.

Thus running DPE and co into the ground.

I'm convinced HCMR is to blame and it's another mark against him in my book. He should know better by now.

It was fun listening to Mike'l point out the inaccuracies in these comments. Too easy.
