The Giants released Ryan McKenna from Sacramento's roster. McKenna appeared briefly with the club earlier this season, recording 6 hitless at-bats. He had a .656 OPS with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in 79 plate appearances with the River Cats.

The Giants have signed LHP Clayton Andrews to a minor league deal and assigned him to the ACL Giants. Andrews has a 3.49 ERA and a 12.2 K/9 across six minor league seasons. He began the year on the Yankees' 40-man roster. Born in Petaluma.

In very limited MLB action, he has been lit up. I am not sure he is anything more than Sacto depth.
And he never even got close to Sacramento. After 2 games with the ACL squad, he got released. His numbers there? in 1.1 IP, he gave up 5 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks and struck out 2.

That is correct. None of the others have been given team assignments yet. I assume a couple more will start in San Jose but most should initially begin their pro careers in the ACL.

And on track to come up right about the time Chappy will be winding down.
He was just a 6th rounder, though, so let’s not start dubb8ng him the next Mike Schmidt, though…

As they should. There is a lot of non-baseball clerical shit that needs to be taken care of at this point in their careers, and that is easier done at a central facility rather than with the players traveling all, over who knows where. I assume the players will be assigned out to teams as earned within a couple weeks.

The pattern I've seen the past couple of years is that many are moved up pretty quickly from the ACL. I assume at least half the guys drafted will end the year in San Jose and a couple probably in Eugene.

Bryce Eldridge is slashing .287/.407/.426 (137 wRC+) with 3 home runs, 19 RBI, and 16 runs in 118 plate appearances with Eugene. This includes a 16.1% BB rate, 27.1% K rate, and a .138 ISO while being one of the youngest position players in the Northwestern League.

I have no prob leaving him in Eugene to finish the year. Then put him in Richmond next year, and he earns it, go aggressive. If not, he will be in his age 20 season in AA, so no fears.

Just saw Brute pop his head out for a post on Reddit…

He is not as enamored with Eldridge as some here are. He isn’t tossing him out with the trash, but he just doesn’t see the can’t miss kid that some label him right now.

These are my words when translating his thoughts.

I dub him the next Casey Schmitt
I’d be just fine with right in the middle of Mike and Casey. Can I do an eBay “buy now” on that outcome?

Interesting. I think there is potential with Eldridge and that his numbers are good for his age but he doesn’t seem to be yet grabbing attention with high level production.
