I have/had no problem with them signing DeJung. But it is beyond the point of folding that hand. He has been jettisoned by 2 teams already this year. Tossing him in the muck is not an admission of failure, it is just an admission that “yup, he done”.

I have never seen Fitz play, so I won’t attack or defend the org’s decision to not promote him. But on the surface, I agree, it couldn’t hurt. Unless they REALLY like him and they just want to start his clock with this year. But I can’t really defend that strategy with the evidence we have access to, sooooo…
I had no problem with his signing either. But he's been worse than the guy before him (Camargo) and that guy was jettisoned pretty quickly after being acquired. DeJong may have had a better reputation but that was based on hopes that he would return to a form not seen in 4 years.

I would lean toward the idea that the Giants DON'T think too highly of Fitzgerald. He is not young for a prospect, he is 25, so they don't need to wait on the contractual control clock on him. It feels much to me like how a previous regime handled another Tyler. This FO has tried multiple other players in the middle infield and they have not done well. Fitzgerald deserves the chance to show what he can (or cannot) do and the other options have been exhausted and don't have any reason to block him.

Heliot Ramos went 2-3 with 2 walks yesterday. One of his singles was 110.4 mph. Only 8 players on the Giants have had a ball that hard all year. He's one of them.

The Giants just released AJ Pollock, who just played in Sac on a rehab assignment.

That trade was a winner from day one.
It literally didn’t cost anything, so it is hard to criticize, but just spending the time to discuss the deal could be considered an overlay (and could have been criticized for this at the time as well, not just in 20/20 hindsight)

But was it a net positive for the roster? I would say no, it was a net negative. Thus, bad trade from day one.

I WANT to offer a counter point, but I can’t really find one.

Another pointless, likely negative move done by the smartest man in the game.

At what point does ownership look at his ledger and call in the note?

The curse of 107.

Heliot Ramos drew a walk in his first AAA at-bat today. 8 walks in his last 7 games, to go along with 3 home runs, 2 doubles, and 5 singles.

I wonder what he would do in the big leagues if he actually got to play at least semi-regularly.

I have no problem with Meckler. I don’t have super high expectations for him, but I like that he got a decent look.

But yes. It is weird that Ramos has NEVER gotten that.
It would seem that FZ has taken the initial struggles in AAA as a reason to ignore him since he is another FO's draftee. Seems to be the FZ way, from my ignorant perspective.

That’s the rub. FZ loves HIS guys, and everyone else can be damned.

Yeah sorry didn’t mean that as a shot at Meckler, just more of a why not Ramos? (Not saying you thought that, just more for public record, Im not anti-Meckler). At this point I’m just hoping somebody pans out.

At this point, I hope the Giants can use Ramos as a trade option to bring someone of value in return that FZ would actually like. However, unfortunately, that would probably mean selling low on the guy. Ramos turned 24 today so he is still young. Some organization that gives him the right instruction and the room to play would probably get a solid major league regular or a good platoon outfielder. Not sure what the return would look like right now.
I'd much prefer the Giants keep Ramos but I'm concerned he'll just rot in the system at this point. Give him a better shot with someone else rather than just get buried in the Giants' org.

Ramos' last tour of duty with the Giants was August 11th through 28th. In that time period, he appeared in 11 games and started in 7 of them. He started back back only twice (Aug 12th and 13th & Aug 26th -28th). In those 7 starts, he hit .158/.238/.368 (.606 OPS). Not good numbers. But I do wonder what he would do if he played on a regular basis over the course of at least a month.

Last night Sacramento defeated Las Vegas 9-6

The Rivercats were 7-25 with RISP. (25?!?)

Wisely was 2-6 with 2 K's and 9 LOB

Fitz was 3-6 with his 19th HR (hitting .281)

Ramos was 1-4 with two walks (hitting .323)

Erik Miller (LHP) got his 10th save with a scoreless 9th (ERA 2.56) he's only 25 and looks like he may be a piece. Traded from the Philth for Yunior Marte back in January (more churn).
