Love these updates Stokes. Been following them the past month.

Vizcaino Jr sure is having a nice start to his career. Kind of weird to have a son of an ex-Dodger on the farm.

Looks like Stratton has hit the wall. We (I) keep forgetting that just because these kids arent throwing in the Bigs doesnt mean they arent throwing. By the end of the season, their arms have wear and tear on them.

That's why I've never understood the phrase "getting fresh arms" for calling up or trading for a reliever. Is that supposed to mean that they weren't throwing much with their previous teams?

I had forgotten who else was involved in that trade besides Kent and Williams. Had to go to Baseball Reference to jog my memory.
Roa and Taveres as well right?

Can't believe I remember that.

I remember being one of many Giant fans absolutely pissed about the trade. Then I saw good Kent was…

But Kent wasn't the primary get. Taveras was. Kent was probably secondary, but Taveras was the CLEAR gem of the return.

I was at the game. Ysla pitched pretty well, and threw hard, reaching 96 in the 6th inning. Arroyo looks like the real deal at the plate and in the field. Made some very strong throws from short. Ryder Jones is heating up after coming off the DL. Ragira looked good at the plate.

Arroyo's been on fire. Wonder if he'll last in San Jose.

Perez is on fire as well. I had written him off, but it looks like he's turned it around.

I want to catch Ray Black while he's still in San Jose. I really think he's coming up this September though, so we can see him soon.

I am a wee-bit concerned about the pickle we find ourselves in with Arroyo. He is clearly destroying the field with his play, but he is supposed to be equally impressive in the locker room. He is not the type of talent you trade away. He seems to be a franchise-level talent.

If this is true, even partially, he should be ready for a full time gig in SF by 2017.

What do we do? Trade Panik? Trade Crawford? They are both super important to the success of this team, and if they are traded, and Arroyo does not deliver...

I know I am getting ahead of myself here. This is a headache for 2 years from now, but that will be a tough decision.

Aramis Garcia among top prospect performers | sfgiants.com

By Alex M. Smith / MLB.com | 11:02 AM ET
Fans in Kentucky witnessed a firefight Monday night, as Class A Augusta outlasted Lexington, 16-14.

Giants No. 11 prospect Aramis Garcia and No. 30 prospect Dylan Davis led the winning effort, combining for six hits, three home runs and six RBIs for the GreenJackets. Davis was particularly impressive, finishing 2-for-5 with two homers and five RBIs.

"I just really wasn't trying to do too much," Davis told MiLB.com. "Even throughout the whole game, I was just trying to stay within myself. Just ... continuing with the approach that I've been using the last couple games, especially trying to get in a groove and hit my stride.

"I try to take that approach into everything. Things don't go your way when you're trying to do too much and create something that you don't need to."

The right fielder has three homers in his past four games, and stands at the .250 mark for the first time since June 11. Garcia -- 4-for-6 with solo homer -- has 15 homers and 61 RBIs for Augusta and has hit in five of his past six contests.

Alex M. Smith is a reporter for MLB.com. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.

I'll 'worry' about it when he spends some time above A ball. I've seen tons of prospects have great seasons in A, and never amount to anything.

Yes. This is 99% correct, and I apply this rule to 99% of prospects.

Arroyo is in the 1%, though. Yes, he may still flop and never touch the bigs. That is certainly within the range of possible outcomes for him. But he is not Brock Bond. He is closer to Buster Posey than he is to Brock Bond.
