The last lockout sucked ass, but it was a necessary evil. I'm not saying it wasn't dragged on longer than it should have been, and I think it's crap that the owners were holding out for a cap that was almost doubled in just a few years, but the game overall is better for it today.

Another lockout, and Bettman, the owners, and Fehr might as well come to my house, piss in my face, and drive off in a limo laughing.

I'll never stop loving hockey, but the NHL is playing with fire here.

I think the chances of a stoppage just went way way up. I think the chances of the head of the NHLPA making condescending remarks about the teams and occasionally even the fans just went way up.

Born and Bread you blue blooded bastage.... :) kidding. Yep. My Father had a history with Man U and I was raised on them.

Chelsea wherever you may be, don't leave your
wife with John Terry. His dad deals coke, and his mum steals tea, he
cried when he missed a penalty!........ Chelsea wherever you maybe,
don't leave your wife with John Terry. He cannot shoot, and he cannot
pass, but he'll take your missus up the ar$e!!

Lol, so long as you have been a lifer, I know so many people that just support Man U because of how commercialized the team is. I never really followed EPL until Ballack went to Chelsea, before that I just followed FC Bayern Munchen. But now I enjoy the EPL more.

in the 80's my dad was involved in Local Vancouver Soccer with the Whitecaps and we housed some old Man U players (lou macari and stuart pearson) at our house while they played a friendly with Team Canada vs Whitecaps.

however my dad goes back with Man U back to the 60s so there was nothing but Red Devils in our household :)

I love EPL, Ive been to a few games in London and its such a great experience.

Glen Healey talked about this on team1040 this morning? anyone hear it and can summarize? I missed it thanks

i heard it but cant summarize it all ... heres the weak recap from the website

•Decision to bring Fehr in still has to be brought to the Board but thinks that they would be absolutely crazy not to vote him in.
•Thinks there is tremendous growth factor.
•He will have a tremendous road ahead though if he takes the job.
•The NHLPA needs a leader that can put his foot down and to finally make all of the decisions that have been put off over the last year.
•He thinks that it will be very clear that there will be one and only one guy in charge.
•Fehr has the reputation of being a fierce negotiator.
•Doesn’t think it is fair to think that a lockout is looming if Fehr comes in.
•Believes that if the NHLPA has an attainable vision then everything will be fine.
•Thinks that with all of the good young stars that are in the league right now, that the league has fourteen or so years to take the NHL and the sport of hockey to the next level.
•He also thinks that there is an opportunity to grow the game globally but it is going to be very difficult.
•Really looking forward to a great year.

Healey said that the highest tv ratings per capita for the 2010 gold medal game outside of North America were in Italy which stunned me and i dont think this is a good thing

... they all said every bargaining issue you can think of is going to be contentious and the feeling is that the NHL is going to go after guaranteed contracts

Ray Ferraro was being all militant and he had a great quote because while we the fans and the NHL head office should be worried Im sure the players are beyond happy because theyll have the most hard ass player union rep to ever exist in sports

Ferraro said ... "who would the fans prefer was leading the NHLPA, Donald Duck ... thats pretty much who they had in charge this past while ... nobody"

he went on to say that the fans "want a tie" which i didnt understand ...

personally I feel what fans want is for the game to not be locked out or on strike and the feel i get is if it means that one side gets bent over, the fans will say "so be it" ... the fact is that now we have 2 strong opposing forces is looking like there is gonna be a huge stalemate

/the most interesting thing i got from the interview was that Healy is a member of some bag-pipe band that travels and he got to play with Paul McCartney at a concert recently

I wouldn't necessarily say I am 100% Chelsea FC fan, cause I haven't really followed the league as a whole. Like I said I only rooted for Chelsea because of Ballack, but he's becoming a fart in the wind, and now I appreciate the league, where as before I paid it no mind. I really need to look into the teams and pick one 100%, and it won't be Man U :D
